The neighbors of Rainhill High School, including Loyala Hall, the local religous retreat, have been subject so far to the school's floodights, which are already left on during weeknights and weekends. However, the school have now proposed a floodlit arena to be built, bringing more light pollution to the residents of the surrounding area. As well as this, the noise created will not only disrupt the peace of this quiet village but bring nuisance to all the neighbours who live peacefully. We understand as a collective the positives this build will have on the youth and potential footballers, however, the school already holds events for children and teenagers from 5 upwards on weeknights and weekends, and we feel this build will have more permanent negatives than positives, as the site could always be moved to a secluded location. Another objection we have to this build is to the disturbance of wildlife it will give. Currently on the site is a colony of bats, and no-one has proposed a way of solving the issue of destroying their nests etc. There are also squirrels, birds and other small woodland creatures within the grounds. This build will disrupt these creatures tenfold, and is a main concern to us. Yet another issue the school has presented us with is the proposal of plating trees towards the back of Bishopdale drive in an attempt to hide the light and noise. However, the school have not taken into consideration the block of natural life this will have, as well as disrupting their waterlines and maybe even building structure due to roots. Overall, we acknowledge as a collective that this build will help young people train for football, however, we encourage you to look at our perspective and help us by signing and encouraging the school to find another site to build there area. We need 100-200 signatures. Thank you.
