Name: Anonymous on Nov 5, 2007Comments: I am really concerned about the ability of the elderly and the disabled to maintain their independence and therefore their dignity. Large organisations need to realise that not everyone in this country has the ability, funds or capacity for IT equipment or for travel arrangements and the vast majority of people in this circumstance still want choices.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 5, 2007Comments: I use Raines Avenue Post Office for both business and personal transactions. I find it very difficult to understand the reasoning for the closure of this Post Office. Whilst it may be the 'middle' of three within a prescribed area, it is the only one with both public transport access and vehicle parking. There are frequently queues of people waiting to use the Counters, attesting to its' popularity within the local community. What are the elderly/infirm/non-drivers/drivers going to do if this jewel closes. The parking outside the Post Office on Gateford Road is diabolical, not to mention having to take your life in your hands if you have to cross the roads (even with a crossing!). Please give this further consideration before closure.Flag

Name: A & P Fretwell on Nov 7, 2007Comments: Keep the PO open it's vital to our community. Expand the services it can offer rather than close it. Closing it will mean a fall in post office business and is very short sighted, look harder for ways to make it work rather than the easy option of closure.Flag

Name: Sheila Snowden on Nov 8, 2007Comments: This Post office is essential. There are a lot of pensioners who use this service, and the nearest P O to this are too far for old people to get to. The staff are also exceptional people, they make everyone welcome, for some lonely pensioners this is the highlight of their day,Flag
