We are petitioning for the closing of the railroad crossing at the intersection Pine Street and Orange Loop. The crossing is not is in good repair, nor is it safe. When crossing over the track, the nose of the vehicle is the only thing that can be seen until the vehicle is actually coming down from the track. By this time, if there is another vehicle at the end of the crossing, it will not be seen. The street on the Orange Loop side of the track is only wide enough for one vehicle. Vehicles usually passing through take the Ice Factory Lane side and drive with excessive speed. The homes are close to the road and someone could easily be hit by a car. There is another crossing less than one half mile from Pine Street that could be used as an alternative. This crossing has cross arms and is in good repair. There is no need for anyone who does not live on Orange Loop to be using this for through traffic.
