| 1 | Tim | Hatton | UK | I started this, so I suppose I better sign it. The UK theme is great. Don't get rid of it. |

| 7 | Adam | Gac | UK | |
| 8 | Tony | Dent | UK | A quite unnecesary change that erodes the BBC's commitment to its (paying) customers. |

| 11 | Robert | Davis | UK | Two points. First I do not believe the BBC has conducted any research to support its claim that the audience needs a 'pacy news briefing' at 5.30am. There is an excellent news service on World Service on Radio 4 at 5am, and then there is three hours of news on the Today Programme from 6am. Radio 4 is not a news channel, and it is not in competition with BBCNews24.
The character of Radio 4 is defined by some of its items of whimsy, and the UK Tune is one of these. Maybe Radio 4's controller has never been up that early in the morning, but for those that are it is an incredibly stirring and atmospheric start to the day. To say nothing of the comfort it brings when at sea in difficult conditions, when tuning in for the day's first Shipping Forecast.
Scrapping the UK Theme in favour of another news bulletin is a grave error of judgement. |
| 12 | Julian | Triggs | UK | Stop taking away everything that is quintessentially British. |

| 18 | Stephen | Cronin | UK | |
| 19 | Andrew | Howlett | UK | Pah! The BBC seems to be scared witless of anything that smacks of Britishness. At this time of the morning, BBC World Service has just given us the latest news, and we get more news at the start of, during and at the end of 'AM'. BRING BACK OUR THEME! |
| 20 | Ken | Munn | UK | I’d like to register a protest about the misguided decision to drop the ‘UK Theme’ that precedes the early morning shipping forecast, in favour of “a pacy news bulletin”.
I, for one, would prefer not to be woken up by “pacy news” – after, from 0630 to 0900 it’s wall-to-wall news anyway – but by something much more in-tune with my sleep befuddled brain at that time of the morning.
The maker of this appalling decision should be forced to fall upon his or her own pacy sword, at the earliest opportunity. |
| 21 | Anonymous | Anonymous | UK | Once again another British tradition is to be abolished to appease the moral minority |
| 22 | Angie | Wills | UK | It aint broke, dont fix it. I grew up with this, its an anchor to home where ever you listen in the world. |
| 23 | Margaret | McEvaddy | UK | I was listening to the new controller on Today this morning and felt he had an arrogance about him. |

| 27 | John | Swannie | UK | The Radio4 theme has been an established part of British Life for the past 30 plus years. We are overgoverned and over "newsed" For Christ's sake just bloody well leave it alone. |
| 28 | Ruth | Bannister | UK | It's older than I am and I still love it! |

| 33 | James | Dew | UK | Dont mess with what is not broken - and please do not come up with any PC rubbish about nationalism, jingoism etc. |
| 34 | Geoffrey | Westgarth | | The BBC must keep this music and stop pandering to political correctness which dilutes our Britishness |
| 35 | Annie | Gregory | UK | This is change for change's sake, robbing many of us of something we really care for. It's been a gentle start to some of the biggest days of my life and an unfailing comfort at the end of some of the worst. How dare you take it away from us for a 'me-too' news bulletin. |
| 36 | Philip | Mullen | UK | Disgraceful course of action - please tell Damazer to consult his audience before making such pointless and infuriating changes. |

| 45 | Lesley | Carol | UK | Please, please, please keep the theme tune - my life will be unbearable if my O.H. doesn't get this daily fix! Besides, if it ain't broke (and it AIN'T), don't fix it. |
