Name: Ryan Hill on Nov 12, 2003State: WICountry: USComments: I've routinely seen race directors not show any concern about where people line up. I've seen and been part of accidents because of these situations that I am surprised never have resulted in injuries. Even when races have different numbers for seeded runners, I have seen unseeded runners enter seeded corrals. Especially in these situations, it wouldn't be hard at all to patrol the starting line and make sure people are lining up properly.Flag

Name: Richard Ripke on Nov 13, 2003State: NYCountry: USComments: This is a problem that is present at all races, that I enter. Here in NY they make announcements and have pace signs. Still you get the guy in levi's shorts and walkman up front. He gets bumped around and all annoyed as people pass him. It also causes tripping hazzards as runners swerve around the man.Flag

Name: Lisa Johnson on Nov 18, 2003State: MOCountry:Comments: I thought the Chicago Marathon 2003 had congestion problems for the first 7 or more miles. I know it's a big race, but the way the organizers set up the water tables on both sides of the street - directly across from each other - contributed to bottlenecking. There was no way to move ahead, and a greatly inhibited pace was inevitable. Very frustrating...Flag
