Comments: If I can purchase R18 titles from aborad, have them sent via normal postal channels and not break any UK Laws, please explain why it is that the very same R18 titles may not be purchased from within the UK and then sent via the post.

Comments: The law is based on a presumtion that porn has a corrupting influence on society. This shows no regard for the fact that sex is a natural part of our life-cycle. Moreover, masturbation and guilt-free sexual relations have been shown to provide mental and physical health benefits - this can hardly be described as a 'corrupting' influence. For the benefit of all, people should have easy access to all manner of safe sexual outlets.

Comments: This law is simply a form of censorship in disguise by controling the means of supply rather than the content. Something is either legal or it isn't.

Comments: There are various ways of preventing minors from purchasing adult material by mail order or on the internet. For example, credit card purchases only would ensure that the buyer was an adult. It is not acceptable to block adults from using this perfectly legal purchasing method simply because certain people find the material objectionable.

Comments: I believe that to restrict what we can view in the privacy of our own homes and where we can buy it is a fundamental infringement of human rights. In this day and age, with the internet offering easy and hassle-free ways of buying goods of all sorts, it is ridiculous that the sale of DVDs and videos should be restricted in this manner.

Comments: The existing situation concerning R18 rated film makes a mockery of the law and brings the law into disrepute. The arrival IPTV over the next few years will make this situation even more farcical.

Comments: The current law is obviously ridiculous and serves no purpose other than taking business away from UK companies. It pretty obvious the rule was only changed to allow hardcore impports because of the sheer volume of people ignoring it (I am proud to say I was one of them). I have to say that in a supposed democracy this should not be the way laws are changed and this blatant case of ignoring european laws (human rights act) when it suits you just serves to further undermine public confidence in government and its instututions.

Comments: I cannot stress enough how ridicules the current situation is in this country. We have items shown on TV channels that are deemed to be perfectly acceptable that clearly push the boundaries of taste and decency while the channels that are protected by passwords are only showing things that should have a 15 rating. Items that are sent through the post are supposed to be secure so why do we have a problem with this It seems the government and governing bodies are reluctant to do the right, but possibly unpopular thing, and sort out this mess that is supposed to be the law in this country. I do understand that this is in a no win situation, dammed if they do and dammed if they don
