Name: Chris Wilt on Sep 19, 2007Comments: All members should be able to view all the tire mfg. proposals and vot e to agree or disagree on a spec. tire. If the vote from the committee was Firestone you just cost every member more money for tires since they are the most expensive tire on the market and everyone will need bigger RR rims to mount those monsters on.Flag

Name: Larry Minor on Sep 19, 2007Comments: Members should be able to see the info from the vendors and the group should notify the members of their decision before a vote. The general membership does not know what tire is being considered only the ones that were submitted. Adopt the rule but let the tracks implement what tire if for their track then each mfg. will gain just like in WKA. Vendors will not be stuck with a large supply of left over tires and consider all 4 tires not just two because now the LR tire game will begin. LR tire is very important and without an all 4 corner rule we are really accomplishing nothing. Let the members vote not just a few saying they listened and then voted what their region wanted because that is bull it shows every year at the national meeting.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 19, 2007Comments: If the groups recommendation to the Board was Firestone it sounds like someone or a group is getting some side money. Even before Vega, Firestone was never the tire of choice in most classes. Each tire MFG. that submitted has goods and bads about it, along with the ones that did not submit a proposal. The smart thing to do is adopt a tire rule that each track picks a tire mfg for their track. That way each mfg will benefit in the long run and the members at those tracks know what works best so others are not at a disadvantage when the visit other tracks. It may cost a little more for the folks that travel but they are the ones with the money that keep QMA going. Do the right thing and implement a local rule only and let each track manage the rule.Flag

Who knows better than what tire to use. The members of those clubs. Adopt a spec tire for each track to implement and let the local club handle who it will be done and what tire will be used. It could actually change during certain months of the year. Be smart NBOD lets not screw the membership again.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 19, 2007Comments: The final vote on what tire was a secret from the membership, if it was not we would all know by now and be raising H--- about it. Did anyone every truly consult the Chassis MFg's, the vendors at each track to see how they felt and how it would effect them. Where did all these tire tests take place and with whom If this goes thru without the majority of the membership voting I hope somone out there has enough smarts to start a spinoff of QMA for all the tracks to join and start a real racing club where racing is racing and politics has no place. The only smart thing to do in my mind is implement a local rule for each track. I know not everyone at that track will agree on the tire of choice but at least it will probably be the best tire for that particular track. I sure hope somone from the board reads these few replies before they vote. It is just a shame this started so late.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 19, 2007Comments: Why do we need a spec tire rule at all Is there really a huge difference in price for the different tires Will this save members money or just put all of the money in one company's pocket. How does having a spec tire level the compitition so it is the driver's skill unstead of the car that wins a race How does a spec tire help me as a handler or my child as a racer Why was this idea presented to the national board Was it brought by a tire manufacturer or a member with no monetary interest in the matter I think that the National Board needs to just drop it and let each family choose their tires as they see fit.Flag

Name: Nathan Kmatz on Sep 20, 2007Comments: I thing the whole spec tire program should be done away with. As handlers we should be able to make choices on what tire we want to us for different applications. QMA has kept the members in the dark about their findings and then want us to vote on a tire. How are we suppose to make when we do not have all the information.Flag

Name: John on Sep 20, 2007Comments: The spec tire could work fine, but lets try it at the States and/or Grands races first, then maybe filter it down to the club level. We have been very happy with the Vega tires, priced right, available, and easily get 8-10 competitive heat cycles from them. But I know that they probably won't work at other tracks all the time, same for any tire...Flag

Name: John Willis on Sep 20, 2007Comments: A spec tire! Ain't this thing expensive enough And Firestone tires Why doesn't everyone just go back to using stone wheels They would be just as good. There are enough rules to have to deal with as is. If that's the case, then why don't they make the whole thing a spec series like the Bandos and Legends Approved manufacturers only, no others need apply. It's just wrong to try to do something like this without a vote from the total membership. I guess the biggest question is who is Firestone making the check out toFlag
