I wonder if there is mileage in trying to raise a public campaign to return her to the Clyde, after all forums like Facebook and Twitter have worldwide audiences. In the light of the world economic collapse the present owners may be having 2nd thoughts about the project and the marketplace for the whole palms project? I have already written to the Scottish Govt with a suggestion for such a campaign that would bring her back and be sited on the Clyde as a Hotel, Conference Centre, Exhibition Centre, Commercial office space, training centre for new yard apprentices and of course a Museum, a tribute to all of the Yards and the men who ever worked on the Clyde. I believe she would be one of the biggest tourist atttractions in the U.K. especially with overseas visitors. The response from the tourism minister was on this occasion that this would be a commercail venture and the Scottish Govt does not get involved in commercial ventures, good luck? There has to be a means of forming a group with perhaps sponsorship from the Scottish Government where we could explore the impact of what this would mean for the Clyde in the long term. With a coordinated campaign I do believe it is possible to raise support and interest for this as a project, support could come in some form from Cunard themselves, the remaining Shipyards, ex pats, many of Scotlands celebrities and of course events like the Tall Ships Race could be the launch of such a public project, even Inverclyde Council could be the initial sponsor by offering space to hold a public awareness display at the July event? If you feel this would be a valuable job creation project on the Clyde, worthy of Government and Commercial support, please sign this petition.
