We, the students of Queens College, are fighting the current Virus Detection system that is currently running on the Queens College wireless network. The Virus protection system may be beneficial, but the system is extremely flawed and is a burden on the students. The system randomly kicks computers off the network, even if the computer itself does not have a virus. For example, I have heard countless examples of Mac computers getting kicked off the network very frequently. The problem with this Macs don't get viruses. I have also heard of many PC's getting kicked off, even though they have virus protection software and no viruses. The system will lock your computer out from the network for about 40 minutes, and then let it back in. This is all random, you never know when it will hit. We ask of the QC OCT department to promptly remove the system until it is working properly. As of now, it is an extreme inconvenience to the students. Sincerely, -The Undersinged:
