VINCENT’S TRIANGLE I, the undersigned, support a COMMUNITY PARK and GREEN SPACE as approved by Community Board 2, City Planning and the Landmarks Preservation Commission: YES (To see proposed park): • A beautifully designed and landscaped Community Park which will accommodate families. CB2 ranks 48th out of 51 citywide in park space. • Fenced and gated, similar in style to other Greenwich Village Parks such as Abingdon Square, inward facing with abundant seating. • Landscaped with 38 large trees, many bushes and flowers within the park. • All structures demolished and basement filled with soil to maximize park space and to allow planting of large trees in a street level park. • A park commemorating St. Vincent’s 160 -year history in the Village, including an integrated AIDS Memorial. NO (To see proposed memorial): • An AIDs memorial & education center in a design plan chosen by a celebrity jury selected by the Queer History Alliance (See New York Times 1/31/12). • A walled compound with 12’ high slate walls facing the street and mirrored surfaces in the interior surrounding only 12 trees in a gravel yard. • Exterior walls designed to encourage graffiti.
