Sara Langmead | graduate student | If there had been better access to campus from Silver Spring, I would have been happy NOT to have bought my car.
Clay Gump | Staff | I strongly feel the campus drive alignment is the correct choice. Please do not let Athletics push the Purple Line just to save a few parking spaces. I want to work for a live in a world class College Town.

Anonymous | friend of university students | I would find easier accessibility via the Metro a great asset to the college.
Hisham Araji | Undergraduate Student, Mech. Engineering | Placing the alignment on Stadium Dr. would be a big mistake. The best alignment is the one that will attract them most ridership and that would be the Campus Dr alignment.
Donald James | UMUC Alumni | This just makes sense. This gives students, faculty, and visitors central access to everything on campus.

Joseph Kunkel | Graduate Student | Will improve the value of the University as a whole. By adding a public access line the University will further build upon its connection with the surrounding communities. I am all for supporting the purple line!

| 124 | College Park Councilman Mark Cook | Councilmember for College Park | I look forward to the University Administration seeing the wisdom of having the Purple Line alignment being in its logical location along Campus Drive. Every major and minor mass transit system locates its primary transitway where it can be assured the most success and service the highest number of passengers. The Red Line was the first of the Metro to be built and it went to the heart of Washington DC (Dupont Circle and downtown).
Why is the UMD Administration working so hard to move the Metro to where the people are not, rather than where they are? |

Anonymous | staff | The Purple Line will help unify campus if a stop is in the active heart of the university which is Stamp Student Union at Campus Drive.
Justin Buell | Undergraduate Student | I, like many students, commute to College Park from Montgomery County. Current Metro routes take nearly 2 hours to get to College Park from Montgomery County. The purple line would take less than an hour, which would be faster than driving.

Anonymous | Graduate Student | I commute everyday from DC to campus via metro, everyday I think about the poor decision to place the green line so far from campus. I also think about the money and fuel wasted on the necessary shuttle route to campus from metro. I also think about how many more people might consider the university for studies if their commute was 20 minutes shorter. It would be foolish to make this mistake twice.

Mary Ellen M. Kustin | grad student | The comments against the Purple Line going straight through campus due to congestion concern me since right now there is a usual steady stream of cars and buses throughout business hours. A light rail would most likely alleviate the traffic and idling tailpipe exhaust.

Stephen Reiling | Graduate Student | While working as an engineer in Rockville and taking courses at the University, I would often drive to minimize travel time, rather than taking the Red Line into the city and the Green Line back out again. A Purple Line would have greatly improved my commute. I am now a full-time student and ride the Metro from DC, wait for a UM Shuttle (or Metrobus), and sit in traffic on Campus Drive due to the amount of vehicles driving through campus. The Purple Line is long overdue.
