On the 10th of June 2010 Graeme McArthur was admonished for seriously endangering the life of a three month baby. In February 2009 McArthur forced a baby into the bottom of a three month old baby to prevent the baby from soiling their nappy, on attempting to remove the baby the next day, he inserted his fingers into the baby’s bottom and caused severe injury, including a perforated bowel. "The accused did not mention to anyone what he had done with the wipe or about his attempts to remove it, even when it was clearly apparent that the child was unwell and there was something wrong with that part of his body." The baby was taken to a GP by his mother as he was quiet and pale and whimpering. The doctor immediately arranged for an ambulance to take the baby to hospital. "The baby was so ill he couldn't even cry. His skin was mottled as a result of poor circulation of blood to the skin. It was apparent that however was wrong was life-threatening." A consultant paediatrician told the court that the pain would have been excruciating. By the time the baby arrived at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride at 4.30pm on February 17 he was so ill he had to be resuscitated and moved to Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow. By this point he was close to death and had to undergo a four-and-a-half hour operation to repair his bowel. It is not yet known if the baby will make a full recovery. The judge ruling on this case said ‘’ McArthur's conduct was the result of "wholly misguided intervention rather than as an act of malice’’ The admonishment ruling means McArthur's conviction is recorded but he is neither imprisoned nor fined. McArthur is father; there is no excuse for his terrible actions that left a helpless baby in terrible pain for hours on end. Please sign this petition if you feel this case needs to appealed and McArthur needs to be punished for these horrific abusive actions
