Recently, Marvel Comics cancelled Nick Spencer and Becky Cloonan's upcoming mini-series "Victor Von Doom." The story would follow a young Doom as he attempts to rescue his mother's soul from Hell. ComicsBeat.com reported that it was production problems that caused the cancellation, but outright cancellation feels like a harsh answer to such a common problem where other talent could been added to put it back on track. The red-hot writing skills of Spencer have already produced the sinister Morning Glories, the bold Ultimate Comics X-Men, and the unforgettable issue of Action Comics featuring Jimmy Olsen, among many excellent others. His unorthodox story featuring a youthful version of one of Marvel's most menacing mainstays sounded like an excellent chance for a breath of fresh air for both the character and Marvel's publication line. Whether the actual reason had to do with delays, budget, or a Skrull invasion, there is no decision that cannot be reversed in service of the fans. Richard Pulfer, United States3 years ago Comments: Nick Spencer is an excellent writer, and "Victor Von Doom" sounds like a refreshing take on one of Marvel's most complex villains. I think this story deserves consideration.
