Comments: This is re: having PS 8 on Hicks Street go up through the 8th grade, which would be the best thing that could possibly happen to everyone in the neighborhood. I have a girl in 3rd grade at PS 8 and it's very stressful.

Comments: There is so much support right now to expand PS 8 -- from parents, staff and the pricipal. The BOE should jump at the chance make a middle school that continues all the great things about PS 8 -- it will benefit the kids and the neighborhood.

Comments: We need a middle school in our community. There is not one within reasonable traveling distance. There is a great deal to be said for the benefits of a k-8 education, and the extension of the ps 8's core philosophy to middle school.

Comments: Our children need this expansion and we need it as soon as possible. Chancellor Walcott please approve our application to expand. We are currently going through the middle school application process with our PS8 5th grader and I can't tell you how exhausting, stressful and uncertain it is. No parent or child should have to endure this process. We know over a half dozen families who are moving from the neighborhood for this very reason. Frankly, the lack of a neighborhood middle school is destructive to our community. Yet, expanding the success of PS8, preK - 8 is a game changer for the entire neighborhood. Not only would it be great for our children, it would be good for local businesses too.

Comments: Having a great school in a great neighborhood only continues to enhance our neighborhood and NYC. All neighborhoods should have great schools. If you have a successful school and it wants to expand, it makes perfect sense to allow it to grow and expand. We all know about failing schools, how about shifting gears and give support to a positive school.
