The administration has confirmed that PAVE Academy will vacate the building as originally promised. This outcome validates the persistence of our neighborhood in protecting the space our children need to learn. We will remain attentive to the transition process to ensure this commitment is honored fully.
BACKGROUND:
PAVE Academy Charter School is currently occupying space in PS15K The Patrick F. Daly School in Brooklyn. When PAVE founder, Spencer Robertson, first approached the school community about his plan to open a charter school in the PS15K building, he stated that it would only be for two years and that PAVE Academy would leave at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 school year. This original agreement has since been altered. The PAVE Academy Charter School is planning on occupying space at PS15K beyond June 2010.This extended occupation will have a negative impact on the PS15K school community and the students of PS15K will feel the repercussions of such an action for years to come.
PETITION STATEMENT: WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, DEMAND THAT PAVE ACADEMY VACATE PS15K THE PATRICK F.DALY SCHOOL AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR. (There is also an older paper petition circulating for those without computer access)
Ridiculous that they think they can just take over. My kids go here and it is already way too crowded.

Get them out. They promised two years and that is exactly what it should be.

Our community is suffering because of this. Its not fair to the kids who actually belong in this building.

The administration lied to us. We were told they would be gone. Everyone needs to just follow the rules for once.

A deals a deal. They need to pack up and stick to the original plan. Kids at PS15K deserve the space they were promised.
