Whereas the Pryor Road corridor is hereby defined as the section of that street immediately south of University Avenue and North of Fair Drive SW, Whereas the communities that comprise the Pryor Road corridor have been marginalized for many years because of a proliferation of crime and poverty in the said area, Whereas those same communities have taken considerable steps to rebuild and revitalize their neighborhoods with support from the City of Atlanta, the US HUD, and certain private investors, Whereas Sandra S. Han who owns the parcel of land located at 1519 Pryor Road SW (Fulton County Parcel Identification 14-0072-0002-013-5) located at the southwest corner of Pryor Road and Arthur Langford Place is planning to construct a building at that site from which the following three (3) entities will operate: 1. A Beauty Supply Store 2. A Short Order Restaurant 3. A Discount Grocery Store Whereas the residents of this community recognize that the commercial entity that is being planned: 1. DOES NOT serve the diverse needs of the residents of the Pryor Road corridor 2. Contributes to URBAN BLIGHT 3. DISCOURAGES SMART INVESTMENT and OBSTRUCTS SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH The residents of this community hereby voice our collective objection to the construction of this commercial entity by Sandra S. Han, and we strongly encourage her to collaborate with the Atlanta Development Authority, community leaders, and residents who are working to build a comprehensive commercial development that serves the diverse needs of residents of this community. The plans that are under consideration are tantamount to predatory commerce, and should be stopped.
