This petition is a public cry for justice. LaTrisha Pruitt was murdered in her home 11/24/2007 by Kortney Simon (father of her newborn daughter). Simon has a long history of violence that no one (including LaTrisha knew about). In 2001 Simon pled guilty to 2nd degree assault - he recieved 1 year probation. In 2003 Simon was convicted of domestic violence - he beat his wife & infant daughter, Simon was sentenced to 2 years & 11 months in prison. Simon was released from prison 04/2006 with 2 years probation. Simon was arrested 06/2007 on probation revocation - Simon again beat his now ex-wife, Simon was released 08/2007 with a no-contact order. Since Kortney Simon's 2006 release from prison Simon also beat & strangled another woman, left her unconcious on the side of an abandoned house. When she came to , she ran screaming for help, Simon saw this and proceded to run her over with his car. Perminantly parelizing her. Simon was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to Life With Parole (25 years) 01/2008. Simon is currently in KILBY Correctional Facility awaiting trial for the Murder of LaTrisha Pruitt. The D.A. in this case is only seeking Life Without. This petition is to make Simon eligible for the death penalty. Let Kortney Simon fight for his life the way he made these women fight for theirs. LaTrisha Pruitt lost her fight. LaTrisha Pruitt's daughter's (ages 6,5, and 3 months) lost their mother, LaTrisha Pruitt's mother lost her only daughter, LaTrisha Pruitt's brother's lost their sister (one was her twin brother). There really are no words to express the loss of LaTrisha Pruitt. She was a very special light in this world. Please help us get justice not only for her, but for her daughter's, her family, her friends, & for all the other victims of this type of abuse. Had Simon been in prison (where he long ago belonged) There would be no need for this petition.
