The Task: To demand that local authorities subsidize the purchase of theft prevention devices so Australians can better protect their businesses and homes.

The Issue: According to abs.gov.au, property crime rates increased in 2015 and showed an increase of 11% from June 2015 to June 2016 (according to the Home Statistics Agency of Australia). While more violent crimes have slightly decreased, more homes and businesses have been broken into and robbed.

Since Australians have limited options for protecting their homes and businesses, another strategy needs to be into place to help them protect what they’ve worked so hard to build. Security systems and other protective devices can cost thousands of dollars with some proving to be effective in preventing break-ins, theft, and property damage.

The Solution: By putting immense pressure on the Australian Government and citing their own crime rate statistics, we can hopefully help them to see that Australians need help protecting what is rightfully theirs. If we come together in this fight, we may be able to convince them that citizens need some subsidies or more affordable security options to protect their home or business.
