If Hereford Council's proposed changes to school transport go ahead, as of September 2014 any child attending/wanting to attend John Masefield High School that currently has another school in closer proximity to their home address will not be entitled to free school transport, despite for many, John Masefield being your child's catchment school. They will only provide free transport to your child's closest school, therefore unless you are prepared to fund the cost of transport from your own pocket, your child will have to be coached across the county border to a Worcestershire school. The proposed changes to transport do not alter the admissions criteria so Cradley, Mathon, Storridge & Colwall children would find themselves lower down the list. In effect this means that, although there might be a funded seat for your child on a Worcestershire bus, they might not necessarily be offered a place at the school. Please sign our petition to put in front of the Council to oppose these changes. You can also respond to the Council's consultation by visiting https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/schools/school-and-college-transport/school-transport-policy-consultation/ before 18/10/13 ONLY SIGN THE PETITION ONCE PER PERSON PLEASE
