Name: Jay Kuten, M.D. on Jul 18, 2002State:Country: NZComments: It is clearly an abuse of both Freud and history for the writer of these political statements to use Freud's words in order to comment on current events. The writer demonstrates total ignorance and presumptuousness to suggest that he or she knows what Freud's opinion about the current Middle Eaat situation might be. The comments about the Holocaust attempting to link remembrance with the threatened desertion of IDF personnel are completely out of line and offensive. Freud died in 1939. How dare someone abuse his memory and the memory of 6 million innocent Jewish victims by suggesting that Freud would in any way approve how young Israelis view their duties and military service and conflate their conflict with that service and Holocaust remembrance. As a Holocaust survivor I say for shame! The Freud Museum should fire the person who made those comments. Political speech has no place there. especially ignorant political speechFlag

As far as I am concerned, anyone in the museum who has had anything to do with these scurrilous actions should be removed from the museum.Flag

Name: Nina Thomas on Jul 18, 2002State: NYCountry: USComments: It is clear that there is a profound need for reasoned discussion of the protracted conflict in the Middle-East. All the more unfortunate, then, that such a respected institution as the Freud museum should propose both simplistic and rabid positions on the issues. The museum offers important contributions to psychoanalytic scholarship but not to the complex politics and history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts. Nor, do I think, should it.Flag
