Name: Ron Balamuth on Jul 16, 2002State: NYCountry: USComments: I am deeply troubled by the publication of anti-Israeli positions by this website which represents psychoanalysis and its founder. It is an embarrassment and it is completely out of place. Political opinions can and should be expressed in other appropriate channels.Flag

Name: Douglas Kirsner on Jul 16, 2002State:Country: AUComments: It's particularly egregious that you still have on the site the disinformation about 'Mohammed al-Durrah, aged 12, seconds before he is shot dead by the Israeli army'. The recent German documentary investigation showed that this death was the result of Palestinian crossfire. To claim what Freud WOULD have thought as FACT is politics not scholarship. How do you know what Freud would have thought of Sharon Many among his analytic descendants correctly (in my opinion) see him as appropriately defending Israel against terrorism.Flag

Name: Samuel Gerson on Jul 17, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: I wish to protest the choice of commentary about the middle-east. Of course, everyone may have their view, but the Freud web-site should represent the broad psychoanalytic community and I imagine this selective reporting is the work of one individual taking advantage of his or her position. I implore the Board to correct this situation.Flag

Name: Bruce Hammer on Jul 17, 2002State: NYCountry: USComments: I believe Freud would have been quick to point out that being intelligent, having the benefits of education and coming from a civilized environmnet does not protect you from anti-semitism and distortion. It just makes you capable of more subtlety. Half truths always lead to dangerous conclusions where the desire to destroy and the anger that fuels the ideas cbecome clear. As to Freud's opinions about political situations, I believe he is best considered under the sway of his own dynamics and personal issues. His politics may be interesting, but its the politicfs of those writing the articles referred to that I am confronting.Flag
