Protest against San Luis Water District Rate Increase Dear Mr. McIntyre: We, the undersigned, are protesting against the proposed water rate increase on May 31, 2012, 1:30 pm, at the San Luis Water District office (1015 Sixth Street, Los Banos, CA). The customers of San Luis Hill Estate one acre homes in Santa Nella already pay some of the highest rates for Water and Sewer service, and now the company is trying to increase the water rate again by 11.3%. Just two years ago on March 2010, the water district had increased the water rate to 14% to an already high rate water bill. In these difficult economic times where many of us are struggling to make ends meet with ongoing increases in gas prices, food cost, and continued pay cuts and layoffs this should not be allowed. Moreover, the yards in our neighborhood are looking more and more unkempt, fewer trees are being planted and those existing are dying. Water and Sewage is not a comfort, it is a necessity. Since we are not allowed to pick our water company the San Luis Water District are in fact a monopoly and should not be allowed to even request this type of rate increase. We’re going to urge the community to join together and protest this unnecessary water rate increase by either signing the online petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/ protest-against-san-luis-water-district-rate or attending the public hearing on May 31, 1:30 pm at 1015 Sixth Street, Los Banos. Our presence there will say, “Stop increasing our water bill” and “Think of the customers and not of your own greed”. Gratitude extends to the neighbors and the community in the San Luis Hills homes.
