In current American society, although we'd like to think that everyone is treated equally, the politically drenched justice system in which we operate under is not set up to benefit to cater to the rights of convicted and sentenced felons. If states wish to act inhumanely and operate within the Death Penalty all felons convicted and sentenced to Death should have, within the year of their death, a guaranteed retrial if they choose. This petition is so important because legal systems have failed time and time again and justice has not been served to the thousands who have faced death as a punishment for crimes they have not committed. We should take this personally. We need to put ourselves in the shoes of the families who have lost loved ones at the hands of a legal system that was never made to benefit everyone. Life should be taken more seriously than just one attempt at finding the truth. So if you sign this petition, you are making a stand. You are making a stand and saying that you as an American will not allow our court systems to continue to operate under their same inhumane processes. Bottom Line: Convicted felons sentenced to death must be, within the year of their scheduled death, be granted a retrial for the crime(s) that lead to their sentencing.
