| 12757 | Anonymous | UMC!! It is very disturbing to think that SMU and the UMC will foster further partisanship in this great nation. Partisanship, which has been taken to its high water mark by the Bush Adminstration has the potential to undo the very fabric of our nation and Constitution. Apparently money can by everything!! I am hopeful that when history judges GWB and his Administration, SMU and the UMC will not be linked to his legacy. A legacy of an unjust and costly war, record National Debt, innumerable violations of Constitutional Law, erroded human rights/torture, warrantless surveilance of American citizens, disregard and distain for enviornmental and workers rights, failed foreign policy NEED I GO ON? This Admin. represents all that is UNCHRISTIAN, is that what the UMC or SMU want to be associated with? It is my hope that this tragedy of an Administration will be stopped and SMU and the UMC has the will and fortitude to defy and deny the Bush Library!
Sincerely,
VJI |

Please do everything you can to stop this. I am deeply sorrowful that the South Central Jurisdiction would even consider this, let alone approve it. |

As a former long time resident(35 years) of the Dallas area, i grew to know and respect the stellar reputation of SMU. This reputation will be sorely tarnished in the eyes of millions if the proposed lease of property for the Bush Library/think tank goes through. i ask humbly, that you reconsider your decision on this lease. Please do not allow the
reputation and standing of such a wonderful university to fall from grace in the same manner as our country`s has in the eyes of the world with this action. Respectfully, Terry Sifford, Marietta, Ok. |

I can't believe anyone of any faith would want this man's library to be part of their ministry and in this case University. |

The policies of the Bush administration, the Iraq War specifically, are wholly incompatible with Christian principles and, therefore, should not be condoned by the UMC in any form, let alone a facility directly associated with the UMC such as SMU. |
| 12773 | Former Methodist | 50+ years as a Methodist only to have my entire family fucked over by the dishonest, unethical, and sleazy cunt that fakes her way through being the bishop of Nebraska, while at the same time doing all she can to line her own pockets and fuck her constituents with that big rubber dildo that she keeps in her desk drawer. You liars have no moral ground to stand on to criticize Bush for anything. When your pastors stop raping choir directors or fucking the wives of families that they are supposed to be counseling, while their district superintendents are caught engaged in Internet porn, and the whore of a bishop covers it all up; then maybe you can start to speak again with some dignity. In the meantime go fuck yourselves.....you probably already are....................... |

| 12777 | Irene W MOrrissey | First United Methodist-Oneonta, NY, UMW president, George W. Bush has continually practiced policies not supported by the Book of Discipline or Christ's teaching. | 12780 | Meredith Pope | St. Joesephs & I hate that a school I once respected is letting Bush erect a library on their campus. You have joined the hipocratic group of the Bushes and are destroying one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Dallas and for what. A library and think tank of crazy right winged not open to others opinions institution....Maybe you should think of the impact this will have on the area. No one will welcome the tourists or the possibility of being attacked by those who view all things bush evil. You have destroyed not only your reputation as an institution of higher learning but the general asthetic of your campus. Shame on you for pandering to him! |

Mr. Bush has and continues to fail our nation and Constitution, having been the progenitor of the unprovoked attack and occupation of Iraq. He is responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilian women, children, and families. He is a disgrace to our nation. |

I am very familiar with the tenants of Methodism, and as someone who shares many of the same ethical principals, I find Bush policies at odds with the teachings of that faith and my own. I do not think Bush has considered his actions and policies in terms of universal ethics. The willingness to use torture is especially troubling, as so many of the righteous of all faiths have suffered at the hands of torturers through the millenia. |

Dear Sir:
In a letter to you dated April 10, 2007, I returned the diploma awarded to me by the university in 1957 in protest of my alma mater’s intention to become the site for the George W. Bush Presidential Library and “conservative
think tank.” In a later response to my letter, you indicated that the university would retain the diploma “in case you should change your mind.”
This letter is to inform you that I have, in part, changed my mind. However, I do not wish the return of my diploma. This is my request that, as items are acquired for the library which I understand is now a fait accompli, my diploma and the protest letter that accompanied its return be presented to the Bush Library with a request that they be included in whatever exhibits are to be offered. I make this request on my own behalf and on behalf of the several thousand of those who protested and continue to protest the university’s connecting itself in any way with this repugnant, disgraceful and destructive presidency.
I will be grateful for your attention to this request. Should you require a copy of my original letter, I will gladly provide it.
Marilyn McCoin Trent

I grew up in Dallas and I have a great respect for the academics and arts at SMU. The presence of the G. W. B. library at the school would be in contradiction to its reputation and its mission statement. |
