It is time to stand up and tell the emperor he has no clothes. Bush has "used" the name of Christ to do horrible things here and around the world. It's time for real Christians to say enough is enough! |

| 204 | Byron Harper | St. Mathews in San Antonio.
Please do not reward W. with a library at SMU |
| 205 | Tax Man | None, but I suggest that the Methodists take a long look at the tax code before throwing their church into what could become a political fray. How much money would the church lose if the church had their tax exempt status removed? |
| 206 | Joseph Wahl III | This is totally inappropriate and unfortunately in character for this president. |
| 207 | Mark Painter | I am a Lutheran, now teaching philosophy at a Catholic institution in Pennsylvania. However, I am a native Texan and have great respect for the tradition of SMU. The Bush presidency is an anathema on the mission of the Methodist church. At the very least, the values of Methodism upon which SMU is built should take precedence over politics regarding the placement of the Bush library. |
| 208 | Mark McKown | First United Methodist Church |
| 209 | paul savko | Getwell Rd. UMC
Southaven, MS |
| 210 | Don R Johnson | As a former United Methodist minister and retired director of ethics centers, I find it disheartening that the SMU board is even considering becoming Bush's library site. To have a Bush "think tank" is a contradiction in terms. |
| 211 | Anonymous | United Methodist Church, Baltimore Washington Annual Conference |
| 212 | Jennifer Dillon | Calvary UMC, Great Cacapon, WV |
| 213 | Kathryn Allen | Alumni of Meadows School for the Arts 1987. |
| 214 | Susanne Thiemann | Methodist - Separation of Church and State is the first point that should be considered. Should a university founded on the Methodist faith house a library of a government official? I don't feel that is right. Secondly, is Mr. Bush a Methodist? I don't believe that he is and don't feel he should have his library on the campus of such a fine university when he is not of the same faith. The almighty dollar should not be the driving force behind this project. If he wants to build a library, he can do as other presidents have done and build it in his hometown. |
| 215 | Brenda Hahn | Second Baptist Church (North Campus), Kingwood, TX
As far as I am concerned one Bush Library in Texas is too many already. |
| 216 | Jeff Jefferson | 1st Unitarian Church of Dallas
Dallas does not need the library of this "president " in the city. |
| 217 | Tyson Ervin | I am a former student of Southern Methodist University and strongly disagree with this library. SMU's name will forever be tarnished and will be cut off from valuable contributions of individuals in prominent positions around the world. On a personal note, I will not be as quick to tell people that I went to SMU and my school pride will be diminished as the majority of the public will find this an embarrassment for the school. |
| 218 | Arlene Callendar | My affiliation is irrelevant. What matters is the negative impact a Bush Library would have on the University. President Bush is quite impeachable, and for valid reasons. My opinion runs counter to the school's president on any positive value the library would afford such a fine institution. |
| 219 | Anonymous | I am not affiliated with the Methodist church, however, I believe putting G W Bush's name on anything is a blemish. |
| 220 | Mike Mooney | I grew up presbyterian and methodist, and am APPALLED at the thought of tying our religion to a president who's actions have not only ignored the teachings of Christ, and has tied our lord to his illegal actions in Iraq. |
| 221 | Gregory Wade Stitz | First United Methodist Church - North Little Rock, AR
former Lieutenant, United States Navy
former Gunner's Mate (Guns) First Class, USN |

| 223 | Ima Christian | I agree with only a few of the petition signees. Most of you are a disgrace to the American way. You talk and wine and moan about how corrupt this President is and you as a denomination have no moral conscience. You (UMC) take scripture and you pick and choose what you want to believe. |
| 224 | Dan Cott | First United Methodist Church, Tahlequah, Oklahoma |
| 225 | Gordon McMillan | Retired Diaconal Minister

| 226 | Anonymous | No Affiliation--I am a graduate of SMU and agree that putting the Bush library at SMU is bad for the university and the Methodist church. |
| 227 | C Wilson | No affiliation - concerned citizen. |
| 228 | Elizabeth Henry | First United Methodist Coppell;
SMU Alumn.
I hope SMU can find enough pride in itself to reject this library |
| 229 | Sandy Matthews | First United Methodist Church |
| 230 | Trent Hopkins | American Citizen / Texas Resident |
| 231 | Anonymous | Hindu |
| 232 | John W. Lipphardt | UM Pastor, The House of the Carpenter United Methodist Urban Center, Wheeling, WV |
| 233 | Bob Jones | These Methodist activists on their high horse about President Bush are the same people that believe gays should be allowed to be priests and that abortion is just a form of birth control, and accepting support from catholic priests, that is a joke, I am suprised they have time to look on the internet, between molesting alter boys. |
| 234 | Anonymous | Shame, shame, shame on you. You should be honored to get a Presidental Library at your University. |
| 235 | Carolyn Dennis | M.Th. Perkins School of Theology, SMU 1982 |
| 236 | Former Student | As a former student of SMU I find that the addition of a Bush Presidential library would do next to nothing to tarnish the already tarnish reputation of SMU. You have rich, spoiled brats, infesting the campus. You have student parking lots that look like used BMW-Mercedes-SUV car lots. Might want to take a long hard look in the mirror before casting the first stone. |
| 237 | George L Roth | McGuire Methodist Church |
| 238 | Anonymous | Presbyterian Church.
I also think it would a grave mistake to associate G.W. Bush with any church in light of some of the activities of his administration. I understand the desire of SMU for the cachet of a Presidental Library, and the income, but feel that it is in direct dis-agreement with the values of the church, no matter what Mr. Bush professes. |

The Book of Social Principles clearly states that war should be THE last resort for nations attempting to settle their differences. Bush violated this tenet and the primary tenet of this principle that states diplomacy should be used first. Bush never used any form of diplomacy before deciding he wanted the U.S. to be the aggressor and attack Iraq.
SMU, an institution that produced one of my church's pastors, does not need this tainted legacy to follow it forever. Stop the Bush Library now!!! |
