Carroll BooneMember, Peace with Justice Committee, La Mesa First United Methodist Church, La Mesa, California. I have always had a profound respect for SMU and it's contribution to the community and the world.....until now.
George StilabowerGrace UMC, Franklin IN
Cyndie WinrowChapel of the Valley United Methodist Church
Harry HollandUnity No religion should be linked to a partisan political think tank. Separation of church and state? Seems like a good idea to me.
Joe E. ElmoreFormer President, Texas United Methodist College Association Retired Professor of Religion
Mary Margaret SatterfieldFirst United Methodist Conway Arkansas
Charles McMullenDirector of Adult Religious Education at The First Unitarian Church of Dallas and long-time Dallas resident. The Bush Administration has done nothing to promote essential religious values. To have his library and think tank associated with SMU would be an embarrassment to all of us.
Sara A. MercerMt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, Pittsburgh, PA. Although I do not support the presidency of George Bush (elder or younger). However, locating the library at SMU is not simply a question of this specific president. It is instead a question of linking politics and the church. Locating any presidential library on the campus of a religious institution is inappropriate.
Janet M. SteeleForest Chapel United Methodist Church, Ohio The Bush administration has not lived a Godly witness to the world and many of its policies defy Wesley's expectation of social holiness. To allow the Bush library to be built at SMU is to defy and deny all the United Methodists hold true and right. It is outrageous that such a building program is even being considered.
Leslie Haxby McNeillForest Chapel United Methodist Church Cincinnati OH 45240
Nancy A. HeatonForest Park United Methodist Church Cincinnati, OH I strongly disagree with this proposal. I don't believe that President Bush has made prudent decisions and therefore, I would vigorously object to being even remotely associated with this institution being tied to his legacy. If this passes, I would think seriously about removing my membership from the United Methodist Church.

Berta VasseurMethodist Church - I am the daughter of The Rev. Ernesto Vasseur and object to the Methodist church affiliating itself with the Republican Party in any way as their believes are contrary to many of our believes.
Charles H. FergusonCurrently pastor an independent Presbyterian church. Previously pastored at United Methodist and Free Will Baptist churches.
Tom StarnesI am an ordained elder, retired, in the Baltimore/Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church, and would, quite frankly be embarrassed if a reputable educational institution of my church allowed a partisan think tank to occupy space on its campus.
David S. GAtesNo Church Affiliation
Fred LynnfieldChurch of Dunckin Donuts
Dell E. GossettSeaview United Methodist, Seattle, WA As an alumna of SMU, I am offended with the decision to allow the Bush library, etc. to be located on the campus. In addition to the term "think tank" being an oxymoron in this incident, this seems an obvious ploy for some sort of monetary reward and disregards the unethical and immoral positions of the presidents of the United States. Do NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!

SuziAs a born Texas Methodist, i feel very strongly that it would be a sacrilege to God to allow the Bush name to be in any way connected to the school.
Janet StockMethodist Church in Oak Park, Illinois How is it that I can still be shocked by the actions of this president who has no respect for separation of church and state and for checks and balances among the three branches of government. Please do not let this be one more legacy of a failed presidency.
Marjorie HrabeSt. Mark's UMC Tucson, Az
Johnny RobinsonReligious Studies major; no particular affiliation I am registered as a voting US citizen at 1503 West Berkeley, Springfield, MO
Ann M. SpearsJohn Wesley United Methodist Church. As a Christian, completely opposed to war this would be totally unacceptable. In addition, to I could not support the establishment of an idealogical think-tank that would oppose most of my beliefs, and frankly those beliefs of what I feel represent the Methodist Church. There should be no connection to this President, or any for that matter, sanctioned by the Methodist Church and affiliated with SMU.
Will CannonNo affliation with the church, I am an SMU Alum who is proud of my university and what it stands for TODAY.
AnonymousChurch and state don't mix. I will no longer frequent your church nor will I consider sending my kids to SMU as long as you support this war criminal by allowing the think tank or the library on your property.
Delrae McNeillForest Chapel United Methodist Church
Linda MeyerSt. Augustine Shores Methodist Church Concerned Member This would be a devastating association for the church.
Richard BachmanThis facility would forever be a stain on the University, the Methodist Church, and the state of Texas.

freda m coppedgemy grand father was a methodist minister and my father attended smu
Cathy BellamyI am a member of Mt Lebanon United Methodist Church in Mt. Lebanon, PA(Pittsburgh). Because of his war crimes, record on supporting education, the poor and relations with the world community, I think his library and foundation should not be allowed on SMU's lands.
Janis P. LandessMember, Member, Asbury United Methodist Church, Albuquerque, NM Associate Member, Hubbard United Methodist Church, Park Rapids, MN Hopefully the Board of Trustees will come to its senses and realize how totally wrong it would be to allow this project to proceed. Hopefully you will come
Robert RobinetteUnited Methodist layperson It is a very sad day for United Methodism. To think that one of its universities - a university that bears the name "Methodist" will become known as a partisan thinktank promoting pre-emptive war and torture and ends-justify-means.
Kevin FosterForest Chapel United Methodist Church Cincinnati, Ohio
Carolyn CookSt. Luke United Methodist Church; Newton, Iowa
Mary Anne StengerUnited Methodist The Bush propaganda must be stopped. It cannot be condoned by the United Methodist Church.
Rachel DuennesUnited Presbyterian It was the intention of our founding fathers that this country maintain a separation of church and state. to establish such a blatantly political site on the grounds of a religious based university is not appropriate.
