12651 Robert A. Parmanot into tdradional religion....but into Spirituality. Was a Republican for over 40 years until George W. became Gov. of Texas. Believe it is a dishonor for the US and Texas to pay 'homage' to a person who acts as a Monarch...and taken many of our freedonms away.using 'lies'...example the reason to go to 'war'...with Iraq...Now he has manufactured the 'terriorist war'....How would you feel if America was invaded? We were...by th other KIng 'George' and we did what many Iraqis are doing...fighting the Invaders ( ours waere the English)...the Iraqis is ...'us' the Americans... Why honor him...although perhaps his legacy being studied will be the BEST EXAMPLE of what NOT TO DO....HOW NOT TO GOVERN.

12653 Judy R. Rose SemradMethodist(UM) as Adult for 44+yrs, UM Clergy Spouse for 43+yrs, Bachelor of Science Psychology IN THE ONLY LANGUAGE SOME SEEM TO UNDERSTAND: NOT ONE MORE PENNY ....or REFERRAL REGARDING THE EFFORTS TO GLORIFY BUSH AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIV. --AGAINST OUR VOTES, OUR WILL YET IN OUR NAMES: 1. Hundreds of thousands killed, children, frail elderly, disabled, sick 2. Secret plane flights to torture, years denial, finally admission of lies to us. 3. Children and adults in captivity without due process, for years. 4. Massive classification of records. Voters need truth and info, not spin-doctoring/hiding. Records belong to the citizens, not Bush. 5. Fear of job loss, repercussions for speaking out. See “anonymous”s. If this intimidation had come from the Soviets Bush people would scream “communism”or“facism” If they do it they call it “patriotism.” 6. The radical right wing and fanatical fundamentalists do not hold them- selves to the same standards & refuse to hold Bush admin. to account. 7. From a surplus our treasury has literally been raided. No bid contracts. Social security could have been saved many times over. 8. Scientists report being asked to rewrite research reports. What of the commandment, “Thou shall not lie”? 9. 80% budget cuts, then tax breaks cut mine safety enforcement, cut levee/infrastructure maintenance. Miners died, people convulsed and died in Katrina floodwaters. Rescuers barred. Where was the “decider” and for days when his people were perishing? 10. For many, health care is a nightmare. There is money for what the right wing wants but not what the poor, sick, & elderly need. 11. Jobs are outsourced and the greedy prevail. People are suffering. 12. Most decisions favor wealth/power. Is it Christian to glorify this? 13. His positions opposing our Social Principles yet photo ops at UM churches suggest we got used. What of justice and mercy? 14. He refused to meet with our bishops most, if not all, first term; now they accommodate him beyond our denomination’s rules. WHAT ON EARTH DO OUR BISHOPS AND SMU TRUSTEES READ AND DO ALL DAY WITH ALL THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THEM, THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO SUBJECT THE REST OF US TO THIS MORAL ETHICAL INCONGRUITY/AGONY? Credibility, balance, academic integrity, clarity of mission are on the line, not only for SMU, but for the denomination, its members, and the country. Concern arises when a football program goes awry, scholarships are awarded, then taken away when students have already released offers from other fine universities, when a university is seen as for wealthy students, a faculty member advertises for a competing, out of system seminary and one wonders: WHAT IS AT WORK HERE? Now a partisan proposal costs people their homes, dramatically narrows SMU’s vision and image. Alarm arises. Name and property intermingling? 501-3C status? Is the proposal arrangement even legal? I am saddened as I suggest that a time of prayer, reflection, & self-study is in order for the leaders of this jurisdiction, SMU, trustees, and accrediting agency during which time they explore the meaning of shock, awe, power intelligence, ethics, and the purpose of a United Methodist university. As to proposed facilities, I join esteemed thousands in petitioning that Bush’s facilities not in any way be part of SMU. Thanks for the petition and to all who sign it. Judy R. Rose Semrad

12663 AnonymousIt's not about 'CHURCH"! Spirituality is what matters. I strongly object having a facility named for the president who will go down in history as one who sent so many of our citizens off to their deaths in a war built on falsehoods! There were NOT bombs!

12667 Darlene KravetzI think linking Bush adminstration and presidency would be an embarassment to Southern Methodist University and The United Methodis Church. I urge the trustees and the South Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church to reject this project.

12672 John EllingerPastor, United Methodist Church, West Michigan Conference, retired. Mr. Bush's policies do not reflect the mission and ministry of the UMC. His library at SMU would be a major mistake.

12679 BeverlyI was raised a Methodist and have great respect for the church. It is beyond my understanding how SMU can accept the association with such an obviously corrupt institution. The current "cash for access" scandal is only the beginning.

12681 Patricia A. PorrettoCathoic. SMU is a fine school. I am so sorry to see this university involved this the G. W. Bush family. The Library is NOT the type of project a "Church" school should be involved in.

12686 Gerald G MaloneyFirst UMC Euless, TX I do not wish United Methodistism to be associated with the legacy of this president.
12687 Rev. Lana BradleyUnited Methodist Church I oppose any association between the United Methodist Church and any institution or body that encourages the ongoing and continued development of political or theological ethics that justifies empoverishment of the poor, racial profiling, proactive violence as conflict resolution and blatant disregard for human rights and the environment. George Bush, his Cabinet and his administration embraced and enacted this line of ethical thought and justified it by twisting the Christian gospel to their own ends. They have used Christ and His Church as an avenue to appeal to Christians who earnestly desire to live the Christian message. George Bush's political and theological ethics have been broadly, unbelieveably detrimentmental to the gospel of Jesus Christ, His Church and the American political and social landscape. A "think tank" based on George Bush's ethical parameters on United Methodist property supports and endorses his political and ethical agenda that results in continued erosion of the gospel message and human rights along with the American political and social structure.

12694 AnonymousSummer Grove UMC, Shreveport, LA BUSH is an evil lying pig who should be tried for war crimes and murder. He should not be allowed to besmirch the United Methodist Church with the presence of his partisan library funded by mostly anonymous fat cat donors such as his Saudi "friends" who are ripping off America. His "library", which is a just thinly veiled attempt to distort history and whitewash his black evil actions as President, should not be allowed to desecrate UMC affiliated soil. I hope BUSH burns in hell for all eternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPEACH BUSH!!!
12695 Margaret KreagerMethodist..The world is a dangerous place not because of those that do evil but because of those that look on and do nothing...I stand with the majority of americans that reject extremism that leads to hate instead of hope. Bush will be impeached or sent to hauge and you are condoning his actions...
