Blake BowersockMember of Presbyterian Church USA but regular attendant of United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX
Rev. Judith G. FenderBurke United Methodist Church, Burke, VA I feel this type of connection is inappropriate regardless of which president it might be. It blurs the line between church and state. The university with its faith connection to The UMC should not be seen as approving this presidency or any other.
Guy Story Brown, PhDChurch of Christ
Lackey RoweI am a Unitarian-Universalist. There are many deserving heroes without markers, why should we honor the most despicable President in our nation's history. A library bearing his name is a reminder of the beginning of the erosion of our civil liberties, why would SMU want to be paired with this criminal?
Beverly WoodallSMU should not be linked at all with the George W. Bush library. George W. Bush's presidency has been all about war, political coverups, ineffective leadership, disastrous political office appointments, and economic turmoil, all of which are problems that SMU should not be associated with in any shape or form. If SMU wants to maintain it's prestigious status, why would it want to be associated with the lowest rated president in history?

Melinda Dean M. YoungImmanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood, KS Mr. Bush has not appeared to follow the teachings of Jesus and even be concerned about the least of our brethen in his actions during the last 7 years. I do not believe supporting a library and think tank in his name, Bush, would be a good message to send to the youth of our nation or of the church.
Mary StevensonRoman Catholic The building of a presidential library, which is of course a research institution, has its place on a university campus. The establishment of a partisan institute does not.
Laquita Allenno affiliation
Rosemary DexterUnited Methodist Church, Atascadero, Calif. My husband was a Methodist minister who passed away last month. He would have been utterly devastated to think that SMU would give space to George W. Bush for his library. Please do not do this. It is certainly inappropriate. Rosemary
AnonymousAttend UMC, not a member. SMU and the Methodist church will not want to be associated with this library or the "think tank" in the future, especially without knowing what will continue to come out about what this administration has done.

Alan M. KemlingMember, First United Methodist Church, Portland, OR Advocates for torture and practitioners of torture should not be honored by Christ's church.
Rev. Dr. David L. SemradPerkins and St. Paul School of Theology graduate, retired Director of San Antonio UM Campus Ministry, 44 years of service.
Fred and Marian KarpoffUniversity Temple United Methodist Church Seattle WA
Eric & Judy TallaUnited Methodist Minister, Retired Rocky Mountain Conference, and Residents of Broken Arrow, OK If we believe in the social principles of the United Methodist Church, there can't be any logical justification for the presence of such a presidential library/think tank at SMU. If it proceeds, we may want to change our name to the UIC--United Impotent Church. We are registered Republicans.
John KennedyRev. John Kennedy Pastor, Mt. Tabor Methodist Church Crestwood, Kentucky
AnonymousSt. Luke "Community" United Methodist Church
Ona BolandUniversity United Methodist Church San Antonio, TX The lease for $1.00 is beyond comprehension. There will not be a think tank because all of Bush's papers, etc. were illegally hidden in his father's library. This will just be a library to promote the man not his actions and discourse. I also believe firmly that Bush has misused his faith and it is insulting to think that his library will be on Church owned land.
C. Garland YoungUnited Methodist Minister Member of the Western North Carolina Conference
Donald PasquellaAssociate Professor Emeritus Southern Methodist University
Bob and Joy JohnsonHarmony United Methodist, Harmony, MN. past missionaries in Chile. We disagree with Bush being even connected with a Methodist University. Why not rather a Sate University. or would they not allow it? I fear his legacy will not be truthful as has been the case with his presidency.
