Protect Pasadena Citizens

Demanding Our Representatives Protect Us!

An application has been submitted for development of a sexually-oriented business (live entertainment) to be built on the lot of the former Shakey’s Pizza at 2180 East Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena, California.

Currently, the City of Pasadena has no residential setback to protect its citizens from sexually-oriented businesses.

Residences are approximately 105 feet on the south and 260 feet on the north from the proposed site.

We believe that Pasadena’s zoning code 17.50.030 B. falls woefully short of cities such as Glendale, Cerritos, Newport Beach and many others in protecting its neighborhood. Each of these cities includes “residential districts” and “residential use” in their list of uses that adult businesses must be set back from. The Supreme Court has case law that supports setbacks of adult businesses from residential, religious or school uses.

We urge the Pasadena Attorney and City Council to amend zoning code 17.50.030 to include a minimum residential setback of 500 feet from any adult business.

I understand that by signing this petition, I am against the development of a sexually-oriented business at 2180 East Foothill Boulevard. Furthermore, I am also in favor of implementing an adult business setback of 500 feet from any existing Pasadena residence.
