Name: Kim Wendel on Sep 6, 2007Comments: The woods and wildlife drew us to this unique area of Chicago. We enjoy the natural areas and the animals who live here; they were crucial in our decision to raise our children here. We oppose restoration practices, especially those done "covertly" without educating the public and without opening a dialogue among members of the community. The current land management practices that take place without informing the taxpayers are undemocratic and a detriment to ecological education.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Sep 7, 2007Comments: Its unreasonable to "restore" to European "presettlement " times--let us enjoy all existing trees /plants for the good they do in supplying oxygen, and fighting green house gases. Let us all ADAPT with the earth as life has done for millions of years on this earth. Adaptation and evolution should be 21st century mantras---do NOT kill living things in the name of "science."Flag

Name: Christopher F. Zubb on Sep 18, 2007Comments: The dominant characteristics to which recent climate change have been attributed all result from human activity. Global changes to land surface, such as deforestization increase Global Warming. The city should plan to encourage clean air by planting more trees, not planning to destroy them.Flag

Name: Jen Hall on Sep 21, 2007Comments: While I believe that prairie restoration - cutting down non-native species and returning Illinois' parks to their original oak savannahs - is important, the use of chemicals to achieve this goal is wrong. We are trying to preserve our future, and poisoning the air, water and soil with chemicals only hurts our community and Chicago's forest preserves.Flag

Name: Patricia A. Sullivan on Sep 28, 2007Comments: Thank you for this petition. That restoration is not only a lie, it is highly illogical, cruel and destructive for years to come. They must stop what they are doing and planning to do to our forest preserves and natural wildlife areas, which we treasure as is.Flag

Name: Fred Zubb Jr on Oct 1, 2007Comments: I would like to see the stopping of burning /pesticides and cutting down of trees. I would like to see a mortitorm placed on the Cook County Forrest Preserves that would ban burning / pesticides and the cutting down of trees for a long period of time. In the range of 20 - 30 years.Flag
