Name: Patricia Spangaro on Sep 7, 2007Comments: This reduction in services is likely to cause long term increases in medical intervention needed due to increased deformity and other hazards of immobilty affecting every organ system. It also will likely place some of our clients in a higher level of care for the remainder of their lives.Flag

Name: AIMEE RODRIGUEZ on Sep 7, 2007Comments: I AM A SINGLE MOM AND DISABLED CANCER SURVIVOR WITH A 10 YEAR OLD AUTISTIC SON. IT WOULD BE DISASTEROUS TO ME IF MY SONS BENEFITS WERE REMOVED. I AM NOT IN ANY FINANCIAL POSITION TO PAY FOR MY SON'S THERAPIES AND RESPIT HELP. THESE STATE PROVIDED BENEFITS HAVE GREATLY HELPED MY SON TO BLEND IN AS A TYPICAL CHILD. BUT THERE IS A LONG WAY TO GO IN MAKING HIM ABLE TO SURVIVE ON HIS OWN WHEN I AM NOT AROUND. THIS REALLY SCARES ME. PLEASE HELP US ALL MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO.Flag

Name: Philippa Milne on Sep 7, 2007Comments: In addition to those individuals with developmental disabilities and families who are already sustaining extensive service reductions and service eliminations there are those of us who receive nothing at all. You MUST sort this out so that ALL individuals with developmental disabilities receive reasonable services rather than cuts and no services. This segment of the population cannot support or advocate for themselves. You must do it for them and so must we. My son now has the inalienable right to receive nothing at all.Flag

Name: Karen Contreras on Sep 7, 2007Comments: I find it amazing that people with developmental disabilities don't receive total support from the State of Florida. Other states fund their populations fully. The only reason Florida can reduce funding is that the government knows that these people won't complain.Flag

Name: F. Scot Kannel on Sep 7, 2007Comments: References to the significant increases in the DD budget over the past decade does not justify the cuts....it merely demonstrates how despicably Florida treated folks with DD prior to that period. Currently Florida still lags most large states in per capita spending for this population. It's time to start looking at increasing the revenue side rather than cutting expense. Tell the Governor to dedicate the gaming proceeds from Indian Casinos to DD funding. It has the potential to fund all services and eliminate the wait list.Flag
