526 RichardMachadoMAUSNAR policy should reflect a concern for the customers and clients its members represent, and not limit itself to maximizing broker profits, which is a short term strategy at best. If NAR does not comply with the real needs of the home buying public, it may reap gains in the short term by protecting its monopoly, but risks disintermediation of its membership as the technology passes them by.

531 RobertSimoneMAUSMLS Access online is both a great consumer service and a service to Realtors who believe that exposing their listings to the greatest audiance is the best way to server their seller's needs.

540 RandyMillerPAUSSelective or total witholding of information does not serve in either the buyer or seller consumers best interests. Any modifications to programs currently in use will only serve to facilitate the needs of the large listing real estate brokerage firms to withhold information in efforts that place their desire for profit above all others. If the real estate industry is to continue to evolve into a profession and not just a sales job all thoughts of restricting data access has to be eliminated. The days of the secret broker Multiple Listing Book has passed. There are more and more quality sites where sellers can opt to promote their property interests to the general public without the need for a listing broker in the marketing phase of their property. If this mindset of some controlling brokers continues,it may serve to further erode the foundations that the real estate profession has built over many decades. The time is now to continue to support initiatives that promote the interests of the consumer over select business interests. As a real estate broker and homeowner I support this initiative.

543 DianaFoltzSCUSThe only reason the Realtors don't want "us" to have access to the MLS is the fact that they want the control (it makes it look like they are worth all the money that people have to pay them).
