Comments: I am considering ending my membership of the Arboretum if they allow parking on the Blackland prairie. I live in Lakewood, and use the lake for running or cycling a few days a week. I'm also a keen gardener, so this bothers me on many levels.

Comments: Dallas has enough parking lots. plus more cars means more people and ultimately less park to enjoy. also crowds lead to unpleasant experiences. if you limit parking people will learn to get there early or to take turns. save the grass. if you keep on adding parking lots pretty soon there won't be much park left to enjoy....

Comments: This is definitely a bad idea. the Blackland Prairie should be protected at all costs. I believe The Arboreteum has ample parking for 95% of the year.

Comments: Why have our elected leaders and those appointed by them allowed the Arboretum to schedule events and develop additional attractions that can't be supported by adequate parking. I would love to hear from Mr. Kadane and his park board appointees.

Comments: How can the Arboretum destroy this beautiful rare ecosystem and protected habitat so that they can park overflow cars for one of their exhibits. Shouldn't they be trying to preserve this land for the plants and animals to thrive?

Comments: It is an absolute outrage that the institution charged with preserving natural beauty in Dallas should commit an act of environmental genocide by paving over one of the most unique and well-preserved natural areas in the city. Ample parking options exist (the multi-acre site at Buckner and E. Lake Highlands, for instance), that could be easily converted to serve the Arboretum's needs without complete destruction of an area that is unique and treasured by residents of the area and visitors alike. I recently came across a man who seemed stunned by the overwhealming sense of awe one gets from Winfrey Point- When I paused to say hello, he remarked, "Wow. Dallas is a lot more beautiful than Houston. I had no idea anything like this exisited here!" That's what we want. We want awe and apprecitation of the beauty and stewardship in our city, not development run amok. Don't descend into overdeveloped sprawl. Preserve our sense of pride!
