Name: JAN WILLIAMS on May 10, 2012Comments: I lived in the White Rock Lake / Casa Linda area for the majority of my life. I know that The Arboretum has parking issues, but destroying the wildflowers at Winfrey Point is not the way to solve the issue. Are there still shuttles that service the area from Casa Linda to the Arboretum? There should be adequate parking in the shopping center to take care of this issue.Flag

Winfrey Point is one my top three spots, because of its natural beauty and also for sentimental reasons. Please, let us all continue to enjoy it.Flag

It was gorgeous. I have taken children there to play and picnic and watch sunsets. Please continue to keep it lovely and preserved.Flag

Name: George Shaw on May 10, 2012Comments: I've been a member of the Dallas Arboretum off and on for many years and love this Gem, however, I LOVE White Rock Lake and the Park. I'm sure with all the concrete and asphalt allready on East Grand and Garland Road, the Arboretum and the City should be able to come up with extra parking for the Arboretum. Even a multi-story parking garage on the Arboretum property is better than changing the native grasslands at White Rock Lake. Alternatives for the City of Dallas and the Arboretum for parking may be challenging, but I feel confident that something that appeases us Dallasites and the Arboretum can be accomplished. My major concern is the lack of input asked for by the Arboretum and especially my Parks and Recreation Chief, Paul Dyer, these concerns will continue to plague my trust of both and the City Council on matters that my taxes are used for and contributions used by the Arboretum. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Degree in Horticulture from the Agriculture Sciences College and I have embraced native and natural landscaping that has brought my family into some but not great conflict with CoD before. I'm hoping the city will start to embrace natural and native planting in many of its park and city scapes in the future. especially with our future H2O issues and leading by example as Dallas is known for. Thank You, George ShawFlag

Name: Kristin Simpson on May 11, 2012Comments: While I am a strong supporter of the Dallas Arboretum, I am even more strongly opposed to the use of Winfrey Point Land as a parking lot. The city of Dallas has a rare jewel in White Rock Lake as it is one of the only Lakes in North Texas with public access all the way around it. Not only this, but this park has been an example in preservation. I urge the Parks Department and the Arboretum to consider alternatives away from the lake's greenway. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Kristin SimpsonFlag

I just had the pleasure and honor of having my wedding at Winfery Point. It would be a great shame to provide convenient parking at the expense of this beautiful natural and historic destination in Dallas. Please consider that sometime improvements can be made by leaving things as they are.Flag

Name: Laura Elise Pullman on May 11, 2012Comments: I am appalled that the Arboretum, dedicated to the beauty, care and promotion of gardens and living things for the public benefit, would be so self-serving as to destroy an adjacent area for its own wrongly-conceived benefit.Flag
