For four years, fans of the hit BBC show, Doctor Who, have been subjected to sub par writing and agenda shoving that is taking away from what the show is originally about. By playing to the newly expanding American audience, Doctor Who has left the values and legacy that got it to where it is today.

The show premiered in November of 1963 as a show for families to gather around the TV on Saturday nights and watch together. Now, it is being called into question whether or not parents should let their children watch.

What happened to the family show?

We are not saying that the show needs to appeal to just kids, we recognize that the fanbase is far larger than that. What we are calling into question is whether or not Steven Moffat realizes that there is more to the fanbase of his show then the loud fangirls on Tumblr.

During Moffat’s time as showrunner for Doctor Who, the writing has continually gone downhill as he appears to try to appeal the newly growing audience of fans instead of staying true to what made the show great in the first place.

At times, it even seems as if he forgets that there was 47 years of the show before he took over. On the off chance, he cares to remember it is ususally only long enough to tear down some character that spent years building up their reputation and love in the fandom.

Yet, he seems to get away with this because so many fans only watch “New Who.”

They don’t realize that there so much more out there. From the First to Eighth Doctor’s runs, to novels, and to Big Finish audio dramas, there is so much more to Doctor Who than most fans see.

That legacy is what gave them New Who.

Fellow Whovians, it is time to stand up and protect the Doctor’s legacy. Let BBC know that we are not okay with sub-par writing and half thought out plots and that we want our show back. An idea of what we want:

· A return to science fiction, as opposed to loosely defined "fairy tales."

· Scripts which appeal to logical cohesion and skillful character work rather than flamboyant CGI and and "trailerism."

· Greater recognition of the 47 previous years of canon

· Bringing back things like The Five Doctors, or Time Crash (the Children's Special where Ten talked to Five).

o After all, as we saw with the Five-ish Doctors, they would love to make cameos again. Paul McGann would be more than willing to return.

o Catherine Tate has gone on record saying she would be Donna again

o Despite this, the surviving classic Doctors have regularly campaigned to return to televised Doctor Who (for a winking, semi-fictionalization, see "The Five-ish Doctors Reboot"), and to this end they regularly team up for multi-Doctor Big Finish adventures. The classic Doctors wish to return; the fandom wishes them to return (The Light at the End, Big Finish's multi-Doctor 50th anniversary special, was one of their best sellers); the only roadblock is BBC and Steven Moffat.

We want the writers of Doctor Who to honor and respect the legacy that is Doctor Who.

We are not asking for Steven Moffat’s job. At the very least though, we are asking for someone to be named co-show runner along side him. Moffat can write well as long as he has someone in place to tell him no.

Whovians, sign your name and spread the word. Let’s let the BBC know that we are tired of them tearing apart the Doctor’s legacy for the sake of commercialism and agenda shoving. Tell them we want the Doctor Who we fell in love with back.

Spread the word and let’s take back our show.
