Comments: I have enjoyed a lovely Saturday morning this fall learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali on vision TV. As a Christian Canadian, I am pleased & gratified to know that the CRTC supports & promotes open & easily accessible dialogue among all the ethnicities & religions represented in our great country through publiclly supported media like VISION TV. Please don't let this VISION be eroded by pressure groups seeking only financial profit.Flag -

Name: Samuel Plett on Feb 1, 2013Comments: Widespread public access to a channel like VisionTV is essential for Canada to continue as the thriving and free multicultural society that not only tolerates, but also actively promotes freedom of religion in a world increasingly characterized by sectarian violence and religious persecution. VisionTV provides an invaluable contribution to Canadian society in two related ways. First, VisionTV provides religious/ethnic groups who would otherwise be excluded from the public discourse with an affordable and nationally distributed platform to express our viewpoints on important issues. Secondly, VisionTV fosters inter-religious and cross-cultural understanding and learning for Canadian society as a whole by offering access to religious viewpoints and spiritual content on the critical issues of our time. Therefore, the threat to VisionTV is nothing less than a threat to freedom of religion in Canada. Our diverse views do not detract from our ‘Canadian-ness’; they strengthen it. The opportunity for the perspectives of diverse religious communities to find expression in the public discourse does not divide Canada; it is the glue that binds us together as Canadians. VisionTV is an essential part of this process. I am very concerned that if VisionTV is denied “mandatory distribution” status under the Broadcasting Act, television distributors will replace VisionTV in the basic lineup with channels and content owned by the distributors themselves. As a result, VisionTV will be more difficult for many people to find and much more expensive to access. Taking VisionTV off basic would mean restricting the access of many communities to this invaluable programming.Flag

Name: Brian Stimpson on Feb 1, 2013Comments: I ask CRTC to consider the social value of maintaining the widest possible availability of Vision's multi-cultural programming. Our immigrants value the attention paid to their cultures and religious faiths through Vision and thereby speak well of Canada among the nations from which they come and are proud to become citizens of Canada.Flag

Name: Donna Holbrook on Feb 1, 2013Comments: Vision is one of my 'go-to' channels & needs to remain accessible on the basic lineup (under mandatory distribution order) for our multicultural multifaith Canadian public. Protect Vision/ZoomerMediaTV and leave it where it is and has been for over two decades! Thank you for caring!Flag

Name: ABRAHAM MATHEWS on Feb 1, 2013Comments: CRTC has often taken a tough stand against Christians. This is a biased manner of working and officials propagating this sort of stance should be terminated. We want to build a Canada which upholds values of ALL Canadians. By striking down Christian channels, or making them difficult to view, you are doing a disservice to this nation. Vision TV has done an excellent job over the years and has proved to us as Canadians that religious freedom is a MUST in Canada.Flag
