Comments: Removing bike lanes is a retrograde step for cycling safety, car safety, traffic efficiency, environmental concerns and cyclist-motorist relations. The Prospect City Council is incredibly short-sight to be considering this.

Comments: I use prospect rd regularly for riding to and from work because it is the safest route. Main north rd is too dangerous (no bike lanes), prospect rd will become dangerous if the bike lanes are removed

Comments: Although bicycle lanes do very little for cyclist safety I feel they are better than nothing. On average I have 2 close calls with cars in bike lanes a day compared to 1 close call every 5 days outside of bike lanes. 3 out of the 4 times I have been hit by cars I was in a bike lane. I am not 100% convinced a bike lane makes riding safer, it seems it makes it more dangerous. I may never recover fully from my injuries but I still ride, I must be crazy.

Comments: As a resident of the Prospect area who rides to work I am extremely concerned that there are plans to remove bike lanes from Prospect Rd. This would make it extremely unsafe and would discourage people from riding; a regressive move when we should all be moving to more environmentally friendly forms of transport.

Comments: A forward thinking and forward planning council would seek to retain existing infrastructure that encourages people to lessen their carbon footprint! Too many of the current Prospect counsillors are arrogantly unaware of the dedicated efforts of community minded resdients who fought hard to get these bycycle lanes installed. Council has such an opportunity over the next few years to introduce sustainable measures in many of its developmental policies and lead the Adelaide metro area. Don't allow short sighted greed and individual aspirations to turn Prospect Road into another King William Road or Unley Road. Let our suburb rettain the unique and forward thinking policies that have been a badge of our local government body for the last thirty years.

Comments: My preference would be for completely separate bicycle 'roads' but until then our largest percentage of capital city riders need the best protection we can offer. All those pumping legs instead of puffing exhausts means a healthier Prospect for all

Comments: There are so few good bike lanes in Adelaide; removing them is the last thing we need! Already motorists have a blind spot when it comes to cyclists -- we need to stay visible and in our own area for everyone's safety.

Comments: To REMOVE a bike lane is an amazing step in the wrong direction. Even committed motorists should realize that every cyclist on the road represents less traffic congestion for all, and bike lanes are an essential part of making cycling feasible and safe.

Comments: How about looking to the future with an ageing population? have a wide bike lane for the shopping precinct so that as legislation changes the wider lane can be shared by cycles, gophers etc. Restrict car use to 2 narrow lanes with a speed limit of at most 40kph for safety.

Comments: As a regular visitor to Prospect, I would like to see the extension of the bicycle lanes in Prospect and the reduction of traffic speeds on major arterial roads. In my country town of Milang & Strathalbyn , the speed limit is 50 km/hr on all roads through the town. Thank You

Comments: As a cyclist I believe that the action you are proposing creates danger and potential injury or death for cyclists. Please reconsider your proposal and take into account all road users including cyclists. It is in the best interest of your council and the state of South Australia to encourage more people to ride their bicycles and not revert to using their motor vehicles. Thank you for your consideration. Susan Forby

Comments: I have lived and cycled in a number of cities around the world and moved to Adelaide because it is supposed to be a great place to cycle. It isn't, it is downright dangerous. Removing the small amount of safety these lanes give to cyclists would not only be a huge backwards step but it would also be putting more cyclists lives at risk by inconsiderate drivers. Climate change is real, the Australian scientists at CSIRO and the Bureau of Meterology believe so strongly this is so both agencies have publicly declared their findings. The most efficient form of non polluting transport is to cycle. Health benefits of cycling are irrefutable. Prospect should be making cycling more accessible and safer for all, not removing the few cycle lane which currently exist.

Comments: Let's see some real concerted action on reducing motor vehicle use! Safer roads for cycles encourages more cyclists, which reduces our carbon footprint, reduces the need to build extra roads to cope with more traffic, improves general health, and stretches the remaining oil reserves out. Bikes are the most efficient form of transport.
