Many senior citizens and people who paid off their mortgages are still being told they must pay property taxes. In fact there are documented cases of people losing their homes because of property tax due on paid for homes that the values have gone up so much the residents cannot afford their homes. On top of that, renters in apartments don't pay property taxes yet their children attend the schools financed by these taxes. Therefore, any person aged 60 and above residing in their home, should be granted a substantial reduction or total elimination of their property tax burden. Many senior home owners do not have kids in school but they are still paying for this. Most home owners have worked all their lives and deserve a break from this excessive tax burden.
