Our atmosphere and ecosystem as we know it is becoming more and more polluted every day by the emissions of toxic chemicals found in the use of conventional gasoline used in automobiles. The continued use of gasoline in our automobiles can cause heavy damage for our living environment, global effects such as changes between the atmosphere and the sun, weather, effects, effects on plants and oceans, as well as the poisoning of our own natural breathing air. A need for alternate fuel sources has risen in the past few years because of these indecent consequences of gasoline use. By taking action today, our community can become a healthier living environment, and be turned into an innovative society through our research in new forms of stored energy. In the development of new techniques for sources of energy, conservation, natural protection of our atmosphere, and even starting new energy petitions; we can influence the world to become more eco-friendly and conservative individuals. In our society at this moment, everyone in the world is very accustomed to using gasoline from crude oil as their main fuel source. But what many do not know is that many pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, sulfur oxide, and hydrocarbons are found in the emission of gasoline in our air and can be very harmful to our bodies. These pollutants are dispersed throughout the world’s atmosphere in high enough concentrations to gradually cause serious health problems and effects. The contamination of our world is growing at a steady rate unless we decide to make a change to eliminate these cancerous toxins from our environment for our future generations to come. Using different sources of power and fuel is the key fundamental is creating a more eco-friendly environment. There are so many forms of alternate fuel out there that can be used today for our transportation needs, and they can be even more cost efficient, sustainable, non-polluting, and accessible to everyone in the world. Some already proven alternate fuel sources can be from: ethanol - produced domestically from corn and other crops to produce less greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline, biodiesel fuel - derived from vegetable oils and animal fats to produce less air pollutants than petroleum-based diesel, natural gases - fossil fuels that generate less air pollutants and greenhouse gases, propane – a domestically abundant fossil fuel source that generates less harmful air pollutants and greenhouse gases, and even hydrogen gas – produced domestically from fossil fuels, nuclear power, or renewable resources; hydrogen can power fuel cell vehicles while emitting no harmful air pollutants at all. There are even other sources of fuel that can potentially replace the usage of gasoline. Using electrical energy to power our vehicles can possibly rejuvenate the way we use our cars to get where we are going. Cars would be charged every night after use to provide accessible energy for the next day. Solar energy can also be another alternative for fuel source by converting the energy of the sun’s heat rays into disposable forms of stored horsepower. The Sun is a great source of energy during the day and its energy can be saved and stored to be used at night. Therefore, many forms of energy exist in the world, but being able to capture and store that energy into the consumption of society is possibly the reason why we haven’t made any major advancement in this field. I urge society to make a difference in their use of gasoline as a conventional fuel source due to the lack of care for the world’s ozone layer, natural environment, and breathing air. Plus the fossil fuels used in the creation of gasoline are running dry and sooner or later there will be none left. Once our crude oil and gasoline sources are completely depleted, the world will be running on empty in their cars which would cause a complete halt in the movement of the world. Especially in America, our nation would be put on pause until everyone could find an additional source of fuel to boost up their vehicles. An alternate fuel source is needed before a tragic event like this occurs. In addition to the depletion of gasoline, and the harmful effects it has on our environment, it is also extremely expensive. It costs billions of dollars to build a refinery where they extract gasoline from oil and millions more in order to maintain and upgrade it. In order for us to keep using more gasoline, we are going to have to keep dishing out more money just to be able to fill up our tanks. Gasoline is also taxed heavily, but we just do not notice as consumers because it is implicated into the cost at the pump and you get less gas for your money. As consumers of society we should all be concerned about the future of gas prices and how it will affect our lifestyles as well. Furthermore, worldwide demand for energy consumption is constantly growing. As the supply of crude oil and gasoline goes down, the demand for alternate fuel sources goes up. Being able to establish an alternate source of fuel for our nation and other countries should greatly influence our economy as well as those of other nations. Since there is so much demand for alternate energy countries would be willing to pay any amount for the enhancement of their nation. Finding and applying a new alternate source of fuel could by far change the world in a positive way. Millions of dollars would be saved and allocated in the advancement and distribution of the alternate energy source and we would definitely see a boost in the economy with the production of more jobs with bigger corporations who are making use of the alternate energy. In any case, the study for alternate fuel sources needs to be progressed throughout the world. We need to take better care of our environment and our eco-system to ensure a better tomorrow for our children and our children’s children. The importance for alternate fuel is growing, and it will only continue to increase until it is achieved throughout the world. As a nation we must come together to promote the study and research of this act because we can’t afford to damage our environment any longer. Taking action is all about getting up and doing what you believe is right, and not staying at home wishing you could do something. It is hard for one person to make a change, but if everyone tries to make a change together then anything is possible.
