Flounder are a popular speices among many anglers and the need to help the speices is crucial.State: TXCountry: USFlag

Name: Russell Atwood on May 4, 2005Comments: I was working for one day on a bay shrimp boat. I was appauled by the bycatch, which was mostly dead when brought in. 50% of the catch was bycatch. When I questioned the huge number of dead flounder, I was told they were skates and never got any larger than a silver dollar. I believe wha i was looking at was young flounder, and if every shrimp boat I saw that day was killing the same amount, I'm surprised they are not extinct. If we as sportsman do nothing about the decline of flounder....no one else will that's for sure!State: TXCountry: USFlag

I love catching them and so does my daughter, who by the way is eight. It would be a crying shame if she couldn't catch them cause they aren't listed. You ROCK, keep up the great work!State: TXCountry: USFlag

Webb on Jul 1, 2005Comments: I firmly believe that the use of drag nets for shrimping should be stoped. The marine life they kill is astronomical.Shrimp can and are being raised on farms now,and the use of drag nets is now a thing of the past.I am also against using drag nets for any marine species.State: LACountry: USFlag

Name: Trudy Sparks on Jan 9, 2006Comments: We HAVE to find a way to save our Flounder! I am willing to help any way i can. I was happy to donate live flounder in Texas City for the Lake Jackson hatchery, and would love to have more opportunities to do that. Also, making Flounder a gamefish would be a GIANT step in the right direction!! I am also for uping the legal limit to at least 15", which would give the one year old flounder to have at least one spawn. Flounder are very under appreciated by many people, but when they are gone, they will be the first ones to fuss about not being able to feast upon the wonderful white fliets they have taken for granted for so long. NO MORE DRAGGING SHRIMP NETS FOR FLOUNDER!!!State: TXCountry: USFlag
