Comments: yep you have to work so hard to gain respect people do not realize that single mothers are smart kind productive citizens rearing smart kind respectful citizens. I was raped by a stranger at age 19 and became pregnant it changed everything in my life and though i am glad for my son and his life, the strife that the situation brought to my life my future and even my son has been so damaging. i was a smart gorgeous fit healthy non drug user non alchoholic sweet young woman and my life was turned upside down. My state allowed my sons father to bring a custody suit against me further runing any chances i had at a financial/career/relational future for five and hakf years i had to face the man who did this to me getting bad advcie all along the way...society has so many issues as to how they view women it is really sick. People treat me as if chose this path and i did not choose it, I was put in an impossible traumatic situation. I do not regret keeping my son but in retrospect now I know what i know 18 years later I would advise carefully anyone in my situation. My future plans and dreams were altered and people treat me with disrespect assuming alot. Single moms have to work more than ever image is everything i even wore a wedding ring at one point, and surely people treated me differently. I mean its like having a communicable desease. It doesnt make sense. I have not given up on my hopes and dreams but i have had so much taken away and the people around me because of their assumptions people who could have helped me did not and it has taken me this long to finally gain the internal strength to take back my life and whats mine in spite of what society thin ks about me.

Comments: There is not enough financial aid available to help those who need to go back to school the most: single working mothers.

Comments: It takes more than one person to create a life. The person to raise that life into a respectable adult should receive help if needed.

Comments: I am a working mom trying to provide for my children by getting my education and continuing to be a productive member of society. I don't do drugs, I am not a criminal, just a mother who teaches her kids right from wrong and to seek help from experts.
