Preamble The City of Brampton has been a major centre for baseball for over 50 years. In the mid 1980s BMBI alone had become one of the largest recreational baseball leagues in the world. Today there are still more people playing baseball in Brampton than almost anywhere else, citizens of all ages can still play organized baseball whether it is hardball or softball. On any summer night you will not find a baseball diamond in the city that is not in use. The intention of the below petition is to demonstrate a desire among the citizens of Brampton to bring a professional baseball team to the city. This is a unique time as the Toronto Blue Jays have expressed a desire to move their AAA affiliate from Las Vegas to Canada. Brampton is in an ideal position to attract this team as changes to diamonds which are already planned to be built for next year could create a venue for this team at a lower than normal cost and our proximity to Toronto makes it very attractive for the Blue Jays organization. Petition We the undersigned residents of Brampton, call on the Municipal Government of Brampton, to build a venue and take the necessary steps to attract a professional baseball team.
