2 Laura HowsonI support preemption with a caveat, however. I feel there needs to be a clause that allows full disclosure of information from the manufacturer to be investigated/confirmed. Thus one can demonstrate that the FDA decision was based on ALL the facts.
3 AnonymousDo we really want a patchwork of fifty different states deciding how a medicine or device is approved? This would be disastrous to innovation and would be detrimental to patient care.
4 JusticeGreetings from the other petition. I actually support what Laura Howson says. This is the position of Catherine Sharkey, and is a much more limited form of preemption than what is being advocated by most who suport the doctrine. So we are on the same side here. As far as Anon #2, it is mythology. There is no "patchwork quilt," as you probably know yourself. No judge or jury has ever been able to change an FDA-approved label - only FDA can do so. So the patchwork//chaos argument is entirely bogus.

6 AnonymousThis is a clear violation of civil rights, and one that is not being publicized... does anyone wonder why the creator of this petition has not signed his name to it? Nathan, any comment??
