We are petitioning the administration at College of the Canyons to implement Priority Registration for Adult Re-Entry students. As Adult Re-Entry students, we genuinely value and appreciate the opportunity that the Adult Re-Entry Program has opened up for us at College of the Canyons. It is through the Adult Re-Entry Program that we are being supported to continue our education, to better our families, our communities, and our lives. In addition to the support provided by the Adult Re-Entry Program, it is important that we receive Priority Registration to support and aid us in overcoming the many obstacles we face as Adult Re-Entry students.

Currently, Adult Re-Entry students are limited by late registration dates, putting us at a disadvantage to get the classes we need to further our educational goals. We need Priority Registration so we can effectively integrate our class schedules into the fixed commitments of our adult lives. Many of us have also chosen to cut back on our hours of employment, to allow time for school, causing us to rely on Financial Aid, on-campus childcare, and other critical student resources for our livelihood. We need Priority Registration to ensure that we continue to get the units we need to qualify for these programs.

We feel strongly that implementing Priority Registration for students in the Adult Re-Entry Program is an important and necessary step toward supporting and increasing the success rate of Adult Re-Entry students. We the undersigned urge the administration of College of the Canyons to act now to implement Priority Registration for Adult Re-Entry students .
