Name: Kim Tompkins on Apr 23, 2007Comments: I am, writing in regards to the intensive french program proposed to the grade 5's in the fall. I do not think it should be forced upon the students who opted out of this program. My daughter receives extra help with the english program and she does not need to be put through the french program.Flag

Name: Cathy Stevens-Phillips on Apr 23, 2007Comments: I am not sure if I agree or disagree with this program. However, I am certain that none of the parents of Priestman Street were consulted in anyway regarding this decision which will affect our childrens' education. I am unhappy that my ability to choose was taken from me.Flag

Name: Bruce Phillips on Apr 23, 2007Comments: I totally disagree with a mandatory intensive french program. Neither the district nor the school has produced any defensible evidence in support of this program. This decision was made without parent input, and with no concrete plans for the future success or failure of the students.Flag

Name: Matthew Novak on Apr 23, 2007Comments: My child struggles in english. Please dont force this french on him. If district 18 wants to better educate the youth than put industrial art back into the schools. Woodworking, mechanic, welding, homeck, etc. Give them some courses that interests them. and it will fill your community collages after high school. Trades poeple are what NB. needs not more service poeple.Flag

Name: Andrew Wilcox on Apr 24, 2007Comments: My children go to Montomery Street and are not yet in grade 5, but I am worried that by the time they get to grade 5 that Montgomery Street may adopt - or be mandated to adopt - the intensive french program. I cannot believe that this is being forced on kids and our choice to have our kids taught in English is being taken away.Flag

Name: Candace Russell on Apr 24, 2007Comments: This is terrible, we the parents no longer have any right, what is next!!! I have a child who struggles, the child rights to learn in her own language, to have an Education, is taken away. Learning to speak a second language is more important to the Government of New Brunswick than to have an Education. I say to my children when they are ready to go into the work force, go west young man, young woman, go west, Alberta, and other provinces have a much better Education, and Heath Care than here in New Brunswick and the jobs are much higher paying. Mr. Kelly Lamrock, Mr. Shawn Graham, and Mr. Alex Dingwall should be very ashamed what they are doing to our Children. I am ashamed I voted for this men, but never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHAME ON THEM. HOW CAN THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT!!! Perhaps they should go West, and leave us in Peace!!!Flag

Name: Holly Plume on Apr 24, 2007Comments: To impose a mandatory Intensive French Program is absurd. To have such a program implemented without prior knowledge is outrageous. For what reason In grade 6, these children will re-enter the english program a whole year behind those students from other schools who were not forced to participate in Intensive French. Not to mention the impact on those children who are already modified or accomodated academically. There is a french school in this town, are those grade 5 students going to be forced into Intensive EnglishFlag

Name: Joanne Landry on Apr 28, 2007Comments: I think forcing children to take French is unfair. I have been a foster parent to a number of children over the years. Most of them have a hard time dealing with the core English curriculum. I can't imagine how upsetting it would be to some to also be thrown into a core French program without warning. Give these kids a fighting chance!!Flag

Name: Suzanne Robichaud on Apr 28, 2007Comments: As a parent of a child in the school system this upsets me. This is taking bilingualism too far we should have the choice in what language our children are educated in. We can not help our children with homework if we do not understand the language ourselves.Flag

Name: Charlotte Nason on Apr 29, 2007Comments: This program is NOT going to be beneficial to my child. I would not ever willingly enroll my son in a program such as this, so why would I consent to the possibility of being FORCED to. Optional is a right every parent must protect. To the persons who thought to take the time and effort to petition this matter - Bravo.Flag

Name: Bruce O'Blenis on Apr 30, 2007Comments: If this program had of been in affect when my daugter had come through grade five it would have had a devistating affect on her. Please reconsider this choice. Choices on the participation on such programs needs to given as some students just will not be able to handle it.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 21, 2007Comments: Many schools are getting good test results teaching the AIM program as part of the core french curriculum. Why is this program not being assessed The AIM pilots were inclusive with all students participating regardless of ability. The intensive french pilots were not. Schools choosing intensive french will no longer have an english program available in grade 5. Will the french schools be implementing an intensive english program in their schoolsFlag
