Black Lives Matter does not adhere to the principles and values of the mission of Pride Toronto, the Toronto gay community or the general population. Their holding hostage of an entire parade, and over 1 million people, along with placing the Pride Toronto Executive Director under duress to sign a document aimed at serving their own personal needs, was deplorable behaviour in a just and democratic society. Banning them from all future Pride events and other celebratory events will send a strong message to the group and others who may have similar aspirations, that this type of action will not be accepted or tolerated by the the gay community or the residents of the City of Toronto.

We the undersigned demand that Pride Toronto immediately ban the group Black Lives Matter from all future Pride Toronto events including its annual parade for its obstructive, destructive, and terrorizing act, which defied and disrespected the basic tenets of the Pride Toronto mission which states, "Pride Toronto is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to bring people together to celebrate the history, courage and diversity of our community ... uniting and empowering people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions."
