| 125 | Carolyn M. Sheets, MPH, RN, CIC | Bloodborne Pathogens e.g., HIV, HCV, and HBV are transmitted by sharing used syringes, and then these infected persons unknowingly pass infection on for many years to others, via reuse of syringes, and during sexual activity. No vaccine is available for HIV and HCV virus, so the numbers of the infected cotinue to grow in NC, in the US, and worldwide. HBV is very contagious via used syringes, however there is an HBV vaccine available that is given to all newborns to prevent transmission later on in life to others through used syringes or sex. Please think of and support newer strategies, although some may be unpopular, to protect our community, family, and frients. |
| 126 | Rebecca Causby | I support any HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Please help NC stop this diease. |
| 127 | Georgann Gosnell | |
| 128 | Keith Macksey | I have volunteered with such programs in other cities. I know the programs to be effective and the people served to be grateful to have an option to help them cope, safely, with their medical problem of addiction.
I recommend adoption of this measure without reservation of any kind. |

| 146 | Noel Brewer | As a facultry member of the UNC School of Public Health, I feel it is important for us to adopt evidence-based interventions. Needle exchange is effective at reducing HIV transmission, and it does not increase drug use. |
