Mothers, Fathers, and all citizens of our community are enervated of being known as a major trafficking arena for Methamphetamine. This affects our community as a whole. Meth use and Meth Lab Incidents Nationwide in 2009 caused injuries or death to children, innocent citizens and public service officials. Environmentally toxic dump sites created by meth labs deflate property values and overwhelm medical services, often as a result of uninsured individuals seeking medical help. In Kentucky in 2009 there were 696 Meth Lab Incidents according to http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/ondcp/Fact_Sheets/pseudoephedrine_fact_sheet_7-16-10_0.pdf "Our meth lab numbers (statewide) are more than 1,200 for 2012," said Trooper Corey King, public information officer for Post 16 in Henderson. More than 1,200 labs also were found in 2011, he said. Between 2008 and 2011, the number of meth labs increased by "188 percent," King said. "In 2008, we had 428 meth labs statewide. "It's clear we're not winning." Among the reasons, he said, are fewer law enforcement officers and more creative meth cooks. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/nov/18/local-cops-on-meth-crisis-its-clear-were-not/ We therefore petition the State of Kentucky and the County of Greenup to make harsher punishments on Methamphetamine Cooks, Sellers, and Users. We ask this drug war be intensified until we win it. We are confident that our government which has proven itself proficient will find the resources to bring this Meth War to its knees.
