Name: Susan LaDoucer on May 20, 2012Comments: This has to be stopped!! My family moved out to Oak Grove Township 7 years ago and have loved being out here ever since, we have enoyed the scenery peacefulness. Now we have to worry bout our health, homes, wells along with the noise and air pollution, this is ludicrous. This part of Wisconsin has been a big part of tourists because it's such a beautiful, scenic area of Wisconsin, how can they even think about doing this here. I hope to god we get enough petitions to keep this from happening. Its bad enough we have to worry bout living so close to Prairie Island now they want to mine this area. Please STOP IT FROM HAPPENING!!!Flag

Name: Jerry LaDoucer on May 20, 2012Comments: I totally oppose silica mining operations from happening near Oak Grove Township. I am very concerned over the environmental aspects. We have to stop this from happening!! There has to be at least some controls/restrictions in place for the mining operations if this is going to happen, hours of operation, traffic congestion, pollution. What advantages does this provide to any of the nearby residents, besides possible damage to homes and wells, rising taxes, noise and air pollution, health concerns. This is a very beautiful area, I am so against this!!Flag

Name: Burt Levy on May 21, 2012Comments: The process of developing permitting regulations and determining whether or not we even want this industry in Oak Grove needs to be slowed down. There has been little or no opportunity to educate our residents or determine what the full implications are for our health or the health of the ecosystem.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 22, 2012Comments: Why would we allow this company to make millions while they destroy our roads (The GREAT RIVER ROAD) and make us pay for the repairs, destroy the good country air, dramatically lower property values and contaminate our ground water! Rather, we should choose to preserve the tourism traffic on hwy35. We did not buy out here to see our country living destroyed. Rather, we came here for the scenery, quiet and peacefulness. Now we have to worry bout our health, homes, wells, the noise and air pollution, this is ludicrous. Where is our town board? This is totally unacceptable! There has been little or no opportunity for education of our residents or to determine what the full implications are for our health or that of the ecosystem…then again, that does not matter to this corporation. Who in their right mind would want this? I am so against this!Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 22, 2012Comments: I am very concerned for my health and that of my family. In addition, I'm against the environmental impacts this would cause to our wells and our landscape. I moved out here for the quiet country living! There are already to many big trucks on 35, and far to many accidents. Let alone, ruin our tourism! No sand mining in Oak Grove!Flag

Name: Tami Kapsh on May 22, 2012Comments: I do not want mining in 30 year mining in Oak Grove. I certainly do not hazerdous dust floating in the air for my 4 year to breath. We moved to the country and pay HIGH property taxes for the ability to live free of these types of things.Flag

The nearby nuclear power plant poses a much greater danger than sand ever could. Petitions will never give anyone the right to take away the freedoms of an Individual or company and what they do on their property. This new mine will bring money into a flat beer economy.Flag

Name: Heidi Nordwall on Jun 1, 2012Comments: I am concerned about the potential for water quality issues down the line. The increase in traffic and noise. Air quality issues. We have enough trouble selling homes in this area, having this type of industry will not help with our housing values. Also, I thought there was a moritorium on mining in Oak Grove. No one can tell us the potential long term effects environmentally or physically on our health or more, the health of our children. Lung cancer from particulates? I do not want this anywhere near me or my family and after reading the research really don't like this whole fracking business. Do not allow this to destroy our township and environment. Also, how about telling us the amount of taxes this company is going to pay for the damage to our roads. How much money is the township county going to get? The company should get taxed hugely to compensate for they damage they will cause. How about lowering our taxes because of the amount of money it will supposedly bring in?Flag
