I petition for Richard Stockton College to academically boycotting Israel & for President Saatkamp to withdraw his letter of opposing the boycott (here: http://intraweb.stockton.edu/eyos/page.cfm?siteID=197&pageID=16&layout=news&ID=145).

He did not poll students or the Stockton community of distinguished professors on this decision. Many of us that we were spoken on the behalf of, when we believe that we should academically boycott Israel for their oppressive and unequal treatment of Palestinians academically AND the current human rights violations against the Palestinian population that is resulting in a systematic genocide in Gaza of mass killings.

As a current student leader in the Stockton community, I believe that the college is an extension of my voice because without the professors and students first most, there is no institution. Currently Israel is breaking 40+ UN human rights laws and has been participating in mass killings in Gaza. This is not about political views or religious, this is simply to say that a government TARGETING civilians, in large numbers children, and depriving educational rights to Palestinians and Ethiopian refugees, perpetuating apartheid, is not a country or government we want our tuition and donation money to go to or academically converse with. President Saatkamp made a decision for us and represented our voice without hearing our voice which I take high offense to. I am not supportive of genocide, racism, oppression, or apartheid as I'm sure many of my colleagues and alumnus are not either. I call for the withdraw of letter and hope that we can join the American Studies Association in this boycott.
